On July 11, 2022, Moderna and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) began a clinical trial (NCT05398796) on a new mRNA vaccine for the Nipah Virus. Now, a little over 1 year later, the media is ramping up their scare tactics for the Nipah virus, a virus that was identified 24 years ago (1999) and has caused isolated outbreaks in Africa and Asia.
This outbreak is no different. Why the hype?
Why did they feel it necessary to ramp up a clinical trial 1 year ago for a virus that has killed less than 200 people over the last 24 years, and that has probably been around since 1947?
