I have had homeless people in their late teens/early twenties TRY to assault me. EVERYONE OF THEM BOTH MALE AND FEMALE WERE HIGH ON CRACK!!!! MEANWHILE THE ASSWIPE LIEBERAL MAYOR OF THAT SH*Tty does nothing but order police to not arrest them.
It was recently I went to that city and driving into the parking area of a strip mall, noticed a young woman lying on the pavement with a blanket over her, exposing only her long tresses. I stopped, exited my vehicle, walked over and asked her if she needed help. She loudly told me to "f*ck off." I am not an amateur at this so quietly asked again, "Are you in distress," with her giving me the same answer. I told her, "As you wish then gal" to which she never answered. I got back in my van, and sat there for a few minutes waiting to see if she would get up and was coherent. She never moved! I was fearful she was on crack and overdosed so I called 911 and waited a few minutes until two ambulances arrived. I got out and waved them over and two paramedics from each, all men in their late twenties/early thirties got out with one running to the young woman. I heard her talking to him, then she got up, and walked down the street with her blanket.
That man in charge then went to the ambulance, radioed his report and then came to talk to me and asked if I had called, then reassured me he had dealt with her before and she was fine. I then became angry cursing and swearing at the LIEberal mayor while the other three walked over and listened quietly to me.
After my tirade the leader asked me my name which I offered and then extended his hand which I shook. The others did likewise. Then the leader said, "Relax Edward, I need to explain things."
He told me this happens all the time seven days a week. The others agreed. But he shocked me by saying "We all need this job, but we all agree this city is gone. My wife and I have put our house up for sale and are moving away ASAP out in the country so our children will be safe in a rural area and can enjoy their lives. I will commute every day."
"Thank you Edward for caring. Most do not and if it means anything I am scheduled to appear before the city council this week to report/address this chronic problem."
They all shook my hand, and to the sound of my curses at the mayor and turdo, left with big "thumbs up."
It was Sunday morning and I drove to the church, arrived early and sat down considering what I had been told. A young woman came in, and sat in front of me, engaging in conversation about my recent experience. She listened, then stood, looked around noting we were alone, leaned towards me and confided, "There are teams that deal with that type of situation and I am on one. A few weeks ago there was a bad batch of dope sold to homeless people and there were several overdoses, but the media did not report we lost two of them."
It had happened at the same location, and one of the homeless I would talk to I knew was tripping much of the time, had not been there for awhile, and I expect he is one of the two who did not make it. A legitimate homeless man I talk to from time to time there answered my questions for five bucks I offered him. He was clean but on the streets and had told me the same thing weeks ago the ambulance driver had told me.
Others in the medical community I interact with on occasion verified all that months ago. It is the state of affairs in every big city here in Canuckistan. I have also been threatened with death 'by high homeless users" at this same location, ALL ON CRACK!
Yet I do make a big deal of the state of affairs. One expects it. Any assault I was threatened with and any of those I have dealt with were repelled easily. In one case it happened when a TEEN girl asked me for money and I asked her if she was a user. She exploded but it was witnessed and my "benefactors" there ordered her off the property. I did not report it to police nor did my "benefactors" argue with me. This is common!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was not accompanied by my usual two grand daughters on that occasion but last week one of them with me felt uncomfortable enough that it has necessitated me abandoning that location and patronizing "Starcucks" instead with them where there are no homeless people. I liked that old location, and met and talked to many "locals" there every Sunday morn.
I dare say though that those homeless people and even the drug users I talked to taught me a lot. I will miss them. BUT HERE IS THE BOTTOM LINE!

To be candid, the woman I watched lying on the pavement I called 911 about, was far from unattractive. When she did get up and I saw her, I right way wondered if her pimp would show up. Hi Edward…I enjoyed reading your story, but wondered how someone using cannabis (or weed, as some call it) would thereby be induced to use crack cocaine? I think the correlation would be highly dependent on the individual, and individual circumstances, i.e. around other drug (crack) users, either while homeless, or in the home (with parents, or siblings), and/or as a coping mechanism due to some kind of abuse. I think age and circumstances play a big part in this question, to which end I’d say alcohol is the first intoxicant (or gateway drug) to induce abnormal behavior, mostly due to it’s availability, low cost, and acceptance (and thereby it’s common use) within society. Domestic abuse (physical and psychological), and alcohol are peas in a pod.
What I wrote to reply to you disappeared but the gist of it is that people suffer pain, loneliness, hurt, false judgments, marital and family problems etc and the only thing they look for is the fastest and longest fixes which always involve dangerous drugs. Weed comes the place it is not strong enough anymore. Booze is down the ladder rungs, weed is next, and dangerous likker drugs are at the top of the class.

George Floyd died of overdoses of fentanyl and amphetamines, either of which alone would have killed him singularly. Wow! The more I read about the UK, the more I realize how terrible it has become. I can't believe the inequity in pensions. When I was there 30 years ago, it was a great place. In the US, it is the opposite of the UK as far as ripping off pensioners. Although all of us in the US are ripped off for paying into a social security system our whole lives (except Congress, who don't pay at all) , they keep giving less and less to the younger people, making them pay in and work until an older age, and giving them less. Neither method is fair, but the UK method seems totally crazy!
I wonder if the UK pension program is a government program. Because I learned recently that not only is the US Post Office an "independent agency" and not part of the federal government, but likewise the Social Security Administration is an "independent agency." With the Post Office it had something to do with a Supreme Court decision around 1971. I wish we could learn more about what that is all about.

Dismal day, lying here typing and looking out the window but I am bound for town to do work estimates and to meet with a sassy ass gal to have her move my investment assets from a corrupt organization to hers which then will be held for me to sell, or buy more. I trust her and she trusts me. We are non romantic friends and she is a brat at times and I do not hesitate to tell her that. The day she told me she wanted to be friends I took my hat off, pointed to my grey hair, and told her that she wanted me as a friend because I was harmless. I never even got the "s" out of my mouth before she stepped close to me, stuck her finger in my face and said, "But I know better." She is so quick and witty. We both laughed and therein was the beginning of a close friendship that will last to my end. She occasionally calls to suggest I take her out which I do, and enjoy the pleasure of each other's company fine dining.
It is not a secret that a man and woman being friends results in a stronger mind, soul and spirit friendship than same sex friends. With her and one other who is closest to me, that is also the case. Both have been abused and hurt in terrible ways and I figure that understanding and babying them, respecting them, and confiding in them satisfies their emotional needs as it does me.
I need to get up but will say the closeness is indescribable but without any inappropriate activities. The closest once asked me in our deliberations to set boundaries, if I thought her and I would cross the lines drawn and end up as lovers. It was the last question she asked me in her examination of me before giving her approval. Well, I am a smart ass from time to time and I told her immediately, that could never happen! She asked why? It came so easy and I told her "if I ever went to bed with you I would be committing suicide!!!" Her big brown eyes opened wider, her mouth opened, and she glanced at the hotel receptionist who heard the whole thing. She then erupted in laughter and could not stop. When she did, I knew she wanted me to be her ONLY friend and told me.
That was decades ago but she started by telling me her past and the abuse she had suffered. It tore chunks off my heart but sealed the deal which also will last to my end.
Decades later I learned why they both desired me as a "confidante." It was because they knew whatever was in my head would come out my mouth whether it got me in trouble or not. They saw that as honesty and I have learned that when a woman trusts a man, he is but a few inches away from her love. And I am, but it has not created any problem unless you consider deep and open feelings and emotions as such.

It was recently I went to that city and driving into the parking area of a strip mall, noticed a young woman lying on the pavement with a blanket over her, exposing only her long tresses. I stopped, exited my vehicle, walked over and asked her if she needed help. She loudly told me to "f*ck off." I am not an amateur at this so quietly asked again, "Are you in distress," with her giving me the same answer. I told her, "As you wish then gal" to which she never answered. I got back in my van, and sat there for a few minutes waiting to see if she would get up and was coherent. She never moved! I was fearful she was on crack and overdosed so I called 911 and waited a few minutes until two ambulances arrived. I got out and waved them over and two paramedics from each, all men in their late twenties/early thirties got out with one running to the young woman. I heard her talking to him, then she got up, and walked down the street with her blanket.
That man in charge then went to the ambulance, radioed his report and then came to talk to me and asked if I had called, then reassured me he had dealt with her before and she was fine. I then became angry cursing and swearing at the LIEberal mayor while the other three walked over and listened quietly to me.
After my tirade the leader asked me my name which I offered and then extended his hand which I shook. The others did likewise. Then the leader said, "Relax Edward, I need to explain things."
He told me this happens all the time seven days a week. The others agreed. But he shocked me by saying "We all need this job, but we all agree this city is gone. My wife and I have put our house up for sale and are moving away ASAP out in the country so our children will be safe in a rural area and can enjoy their lives. I will commute every day."

It had happened at the same location, and one of the homeless I would talk to I knew was tripping much of the time, had not been there for awhile, and I expect he is one of the two who did not make it. A legitimate homeless man I talk to from time to time there answered my questions for five bucks I offered him. He was clean but on the streets and had told me the same thing weeks ago the ambulance driver had told me.
Others in the medical community I interact with on occasion verified all that months ago. It is the state of affairs in every big city here in Canuckistan. I have also been threatened with death 'by high homeless users" at this same location, ALL ON CRACK!
Yet I do make a big deal of the state of affairs. One expects it. Any assault I was threatened with and any of those I have dealt with were repelled easily. In one case it happened when a TEEN girl asked me for money and I asked her if she was a user. She exploded but it was witnessed and my "benefactors" there ordered her off the property. I did not report it to police nor did my "benefactors" argue with me. This is common!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was not accompanied by my usual two grand daughters on that occasion but last week one of them with me felt uncomfortable enough that it has necessitated me abandoning that location and patronizing "Starcucks" instead with them where there are no homeless people. I liked that old location, and met and talked to many "locals" there every Sunday morn.
I dare say though that those homeless people and even the drug users I talked to taught me a lot. I will miss them. BUT HERE IS THE BOTTOM LINE!

Hi Edward…I enjoyed reading your story, but wondered how someone using cannabis (or weed, as some call it) would thereby be induced to use crack cocaine? I think the correlation would be highly dependent on the individual, and individual circumstances, i.e. around other drug (crack) users, either while homeless, or in the home (with parents, or siblings), and/or as a coping mechanism due to some kind of abuse. I think age and circumstances play a big part in this question, to which end I’d say alcohol is the first intoxicant (or gateway drug) to induce abnormal behavior, mostly due to it’s availability, low cost, and acceptance (and thereby it’s common use) within society. Domestic abuse (physical and psychological), and alcohol are peas in a pod.
What I wrote to reply to you disappeared but the gist of it is that people suffer pain, loneliness, hurt, false judgments, marital and family problems etc and the only thing they look for is the fastest and longest fixes which always involve dangerous drugs. Weed comes the place it is not strong enough anymore. Booze is down the ladder rungs, weed is next, and dangerous likker drugs are at the top of the class.

George Floyd died of overdoses of fentanyl and amphetamines, either of which alone would have killed him singularly. Wow! The more I read about the UK, the more I realize how terrible it has become. I can't believe the inequity in pensions. When I was there 30 years ago, it was a great place. In the US, it is the opposite of the UK as far as ripping off pensioners. Although all of us in the US are ripped off for paying into a social security system our whole lives (except Congress, who don't pay at all) , they keep giving less and less to the younger people, making them pay in and work until an older age, and giving them less. Neither method is fair, but the UK method seems totally crazy!

Dismal day, lying here typing and looking out the window but I am bound for town to do work estimates and to meet with a sassy ass gal to have her move my investment assets from a corrupt organization to hers which then will be held for me to sell, or buy more. I trust her and she trusts me. We are non romantic friends and she is a brat at times and I do not hesitate to tell her that. We both laughed and therein was the beginning of a close friendship that will last to my end. It is not a secret that a man and woman being friends results in a stronger mind, soul and spirit friendship than same sex friends. With her and one other who is closest to me, that is also the case. Both have been abused and hurt in terrible ways and I figure that understanding and babying them, respecting them, and confiding in them satisfies their emotional needs as it does me.
I need to get up but will say the closeness is indescribable but without any inappropriate activities. The closest once asked me in our deliberations to set boundaries, if I thought her and I would cross the lines drawn and end up as lovers. It was the last question she asked me in her examination of me before giving her approval. Well, I am a smart ass from time to time and I told her immediately, that could never happen! She asked why? It came so easy and I told her "if I ever went to bed with you I would be committing suicide!!!" Her big brown eyes opened wider, her mouth opened, and she glanced at the hotel receptionist who heard the whole thing. She then erupted in laughter and could not stop. When she did, I knew she wanted me to be her ONLY friend and told me.
That was decades ago but she started by telling me her past and the abuse she had suffered. It tore chunks off my heart but sealed the deal which also will last to my end.
Decades later I learned why they both desired me as a "confidante." It was because they knew whatever was in my head would come out my mouth whether it got me in trouble or not. They saw that as honesty and I have learned that when a woman trusts a man, he is but a few inches away from her love. And I am, but it has not created any problem unless you consider deep and open feelings and emotions as such.
