One-time or recurring donations can be made through Ko-Fi:
As an organ donor in a hospital setting, your organs are only taken if you actually die … right? Wrong.
Organ donors beware!
The “brain dead” diagnosis has shaped the way medical professionals think about what it means to be alive, and some argue that it has normalized practices that should be deemed unconscionable — posing a direct threat to you and your loved ones. Take Terrance Howard, for example. After a car accident, he was given this pronunciation. His family, however, disagreed and requested for his transfer…
Every donor is killed in the process... Revoking your organ donation status from your drivers license is not enough, you must also complete a document of refusal.
My sister was in a car accident when she had just turned 22. Pronounced brain dead and used for organs. It’s never felt right. I changed mine to my children decide if my organs are donated. We had no say, she had signed and made that choice and as a perfect candidate the willingness to declare her an organ donor , I have always felt, overrode the willingness to try to help her live.
This is an incredibly difficult situation. Depending on the extent of the injury, what life would she have lived, was she better off not living locked inside a body without a hope, with a brain, unable to function ? I’ll never know.
In Canada the promoted legal euthanasia practice , declaring patients as “brain dead” and the organ harvesting business go hand in hand in our culture of death.
