I disbelieved the SARS-COV-2 "novelty" claim from the beginning. It's a variant of a common virus if it's anything. Perhaps a nasty one, but nasty viruses have their surge and then they burn out, the way God designed them to. You don't stop a viral outbreak by hiding in your houses, or by vaccinating. Good grief! Getting off the western diet of industrial food-like substances and back to actual God-ordained food would have helped, though.
The perpetrators could as well have said "the sky is green", in unison, until everybody started seeing the sky as green. This action had fraud written all over it from the beginning. Instead, they tried to convince everybody that their immune systems didn't work -- it's just as stupid a claim -- but people knowing little or nothing about how their bodies work believed the lies and refused to listen to the warnings, out of fear. This says as much about "the people" as it does about "the lying authorities". They would seem to be made for each other.
The "lockdowns" appeared to me to be a way to ensure that our immune systems didn't work as well as they could, along with trying to destroy independent small businesses.
My concern was whether the events were related to Bible prophecy. Over 50 years ago I was involved with a church that believed that Jesus was returning in the 1970s (and no, not THAT one). He didn't, and I left over that and other things, along with a lot of other people. Since then I have been very careful about such claims, but it does appear to me that we are approaching the end of the age, and rapidly. 2020 was not a viral plague of biblical proportions, however. It was a plague of lies.
It can be easier to spot a fraud than to work out how it was accomplished. More important is seeking to understand why the world is headed in the direction that it is.

Rather, I understand those people and their actions as an effect, an outcome of our shared sinful nature left unchecked. I believe that is the "why" that is not being understood.

OK, I am no expert on viruses. The article from 2006 includes SARS Cov-2. There is supplemental information with the article that gives sequences for the viruses used. I have no idea how to "decode" that to see if it is the same Cov-2 that is in circulation today, but I am sure some expert out there does. So, can someone tell us if the sequence referred to in the 2006 article is the same as the SARS-Cov2 of this "pandemic"? Sorry for my ignorance, looking forward to some discussion of this.
Sars-Cov2, not Sars-Cov-2. The original SARS had a couple of different strains, so it appears they were using multiple strains in the study and denoted this by Sars-Cov1 and Sars-Cov2.
