Putin bans all oil sales to ‘price cap’ states
The move is in response to a Western coalition price-limit on Russia’s seaborne oil exports
President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on retaliatory measures to the West’s price cap on Russian oil exports. Tuesday's ratification is in response to the punitive measure taken by the EU, G7 countries, and Australia, which came into effect earlier this month.
The presidential decree bans the supply of oil and petroleum products from Russia to countries which apply a price cap in their contracts. It also prohibits deliveries if the contracts directly or indirectly specify the cap.

Relations between Moscow and Brussels are now at their “lowest point,” Russia’s foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, told TASS in an interview published on Tuesday. The EU has declared a “hybrid war” on Moscow by unquestioningly following the US, the minister added.
Brussels' policies have only hurt the interests and well-being of EU citizens themselves, Lavrov said. He also accused Washington of barring EU nations from conducting dialogue on energy with Moscow, even though Russia’s supplies of fuel provided Europe with “unprecedented prosperity” for decades.

The CIA has been using a European NATO country’s intelligence services to conduct sabotage attacks inside Russia since the February invasion of Ukraine, investigative journalist Jack Murphy reported on Saturday, citing unnamed former US intelligence and military officials.
The report said that no US personnel are on the ground in Russia but that the operations are being directed by the CIA. The US is using an ally's intelligence services to add an extra layer of plausible deniability, and a former US special operations official told Murphy that layer was a major factor in President Biden signing off on the attacks.

Serbia has placed its army and police on high alert amid a tense standoff between Belgrade and the breakaway region of Kosovo. Officials say armed personnel are ready to intervene to defend the local Serb population.
“The president of Serbia, as the commander-in-chief, has ordered tonight that the Serbian Armed Forces be at the highest level of combat readiness, meaning the preparedness to use their armed potential,” Defense Minister Milos Vucevic told Tanjug news agency on Monday. He added that the government would ensure that “all measures are taken to protect the Serbian people in Kosovo.”

South Korea has issued an apology to its citizens after failing to shoot down several North Korean drones that crossed over the border earlier this week, acknowledging that the incident stoked fears among the public while vowing a more aggressive response in the future.
Lieutenant General Kang Shin-chul, the chief director of operations for the South Korean military’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), commented on the drone breach in a statement on Tuesday, noting flaws in Seoul’s military preparedness.
US Supreme Court Rules To Keep Trump Border Policy In Place
By a 5 to 4 vote, the US Supreme Court has ruled to keep the Trump-era border policy known as 'Title 42' in effect (with Conservative Justice Gorsuch joined the liberal Justices in dissent).
The Court also agreed to hear oral arguments and rule on whether individual states can intervene, with a decision due by the end of June.

Australian police are using a brutal ambush on two cops to encourage residents to rat out neighbors who are skeptical of the Covid-10 vaccine, or harbor anti-government views.
On December 12, two Brisbane police officers were gunned down by a family of rural Australians, who opened fire as the two officers approached their home. Constables Rachel McCrow, 29, and Matthew Arnold, 26 died in the attack, while a third officer, Constable Randall Kirk, was shot in the leg but managed to escape. A fourth officer, Keely Brough, fled to safety in the bushes.
'PSYOPS Officer': Canadian government lists job for psychological operations
It's not a conspiracy theory. The Canadian government posted a job listing (archive) asking for an experienced military member to train in psychological operations before taking on exercises with a "syndicate" to learn the best psychological tactics from around the world.
"Psychological operations" (psyops) typically refers to military/governmental operations that intentionally mislead or confuse the population, often used as a precursor to law changes or military action. Many would point to "false flag" events or simple misinformation spread by government sources as examples.

Southern California experienced a drastic drop in temperatures on Monday, with wet weather expected through the week, while a powerful winter storm hit Northern California started late Monday and brought several inches of rain and heavy winds.
An atmospheric river, or a weather system that moves high concentrations of water vapor outside of the tropics, could on Tuesday bring up to 1 to 3 inches of rain to the coastal areas, with higher elevations receiving upward of 3 to 5 inches, the National Weather Service told CBS San Francisco. The atmospheric river could be as strong as a Category 4, with a scale that tops out a 5.

The Pool of Siloam, a nearly 3,000-year-old water reservoir that likely served Jerusalem’s population during biblical times, will be fully excavated in the coming months, Israeli authorities said Tuesday.
The excavations will for the first time expose the entire pool, which archaeologists say was constructed during the reign of the Israelite King Hezekiah in the 8th century BCE.
