Thanks for this post! I have a follow-up question from the "Jack Sacco Reveals the Science of the Resurrection" video though - in the interview, Mr Sacco hesitatingly says that there was DNA testing done on the blood (which was not allowed to be done, but produced significant findings)... and he guardedly suggested he may discuss more another day.

Do you know if he ever said more about this? I can't see any subsequent interview between Sacco and Sawyer, and Sacco's hesitation suggest to me that he'll never publish the information. However, I'd love to know if you, or any of your other readers, knows more.

Thank you for this very insightful post. I hadn't given thought to the Shroud's authenticity since I too remember hearing about the carbon dating. It's nice to hear a different perspective. Happy Easter

Jesus of Nazareth was not buried in a single cloth wrapping his body and head. He was buried with a linen cloth wound around his body and a napkin covering his head (John 20:5-7). These were two separate cloths, and the napkin for his head was folded and laid separately after His resurrection. It is impossible to have a single cloth with an imprint of His body and face. The forgers were skilled, but ignorant of the Bible. The Shroud is an obvious lie by this fact in the Scriptures.

Lazarus, a close friend of Jesus, was buried the very same way. He had linen burial clothes wound around his body, but his face was covered with a separate napkin (John 11:44).

The Image on the Shroud shows that the body was lain down upon the cloth with the feet at the bottom end and the cloth was then simply folded over the body, enclosing the head at the center. The length of the shroud is a little over twice the length of an average adult body to accommodate the folding as I just described.

To wind a body in a shroud would require about three times the height of a body. I've seen the nonsense about the shroud being wound around the body before. It's just an attempt at distraction to claim that the image couldn't appear as it does since the cloth was "supposed" to have been wound around the body.

I couldn’t tell which of the evidence was new, but there was a really interesting documentary from the History channel a number of years ago that discussed much of this evidence. From the 3D encoded image on the shroud, modern computer animators were able to create an approximation. https://vimeo.com/59373614

Love this piece. Look for the full moon tonight. Always there on the night of Christs death.

Ummm. In the time of Jesus death they used the Hebrew calendar which was based on the cycle of the moon I believe. The Passover was always on the night of a full moon. Jesus was put on trial and tortured and died all In That day of the Passover. Their days started at 6 pm I believe. So he had the Passover meal. Then went to the garden then was taken that night to Pilate He hung on the stake from 12-3. That Passover day ended at 6 pm. I don’t think many Christian’s define the night of Jesus death using the moon. Jewish believers would. Easter always falls on a Sunday no matter what. That is not In line with the Bible. All the traditions of Easter are pagan. What does bunnies have to do with Jesus sacrifice of his life. Nothing! It’s disgusting. Just some Bible truths I’ve learned over the years. Easter is not In the bible. Traditions started in the Catholic Church.
