Efforts to force people onto CBDC's and restricting your ability to go to the grocery store buy you time as anger builds elsewhere for the restrictions are put in place. What can happen is that you don't starve while pushback happens.
If there are people around you who are suddenly without food due to an emergency, you can help them, and trust me, people REMEMBER the kindness you extended to them in their time of need.
You help sustain bees, while others are busy killing them off (I don't use pesticides).

You can save seeds, and swap them with others.
You can share food with neighbors and build goodwill. (I don't have enough neighbors without cameras to donate my excess zucchini to, however. ;-)
Yes, you do need time and skills. My wife thinks I spend more doing a garden, but I grow a bit of food, and I give much of it away because I don't have great canning skills, and my wife is very intolerant (impatient) and prefers to use pre-packaged foods. I grazed from the garden often.
I also don't worry about trucker's strikes or gas/fuel shortages for food, and the peace and confidence I have brings significant stress relief when a disaster (man made or otherwise) strikes. This include water storage.
I only wish I had greater support from my wife to use more of our backyard (and even parts of our front yard) for herbal remedy plants, fruit trees or an expanded garden. I met a man who had quite the garden, and I've been jealous of his accomplishments.
There's something to be said of being self-sufficient or even being prepared. It brings a lot of comfort, and also a buffer against inflation. I can shop the sales for staples, and save quite a bit of money.
