Take as much cash out of the ATM as you possibly can. Got a nagging feeling that "something" might happen. Just look back on the last couple of months where Bank of America and Wells Fargo "lost" people's deposits and angry customers showed up at branch offices.
Another thing that is troubling me is the closure of a lot of bank branch offices along with their ATM machines. I don't trust stand alone ATMs at places like 7-11.

What you want to avoid is having to go to the bank with a bunch of angry customers who cannot get cash from the ATM, or may be limited to a certain dollar amount every day.
Most people I know carry no cash at all. Just paying with a card or their phone.
If the banking system suffers a "glitch" or worse, I don't want to be out there waiting in line at an ATM with a bunch of angry folks.
Another piece of advice someone gave was always keeps the gas tank of your car full. Even if you just have to put a couple of gallons in every few days.

My suggestion was just for a short term fix.

There was a "bank holiday" about a decade ago in Cyprus...lots of problems with their financial system.
Depositers were limited to a daily withdrawal limit...I think it might have been 200 Euro per day.
I just remember seeing photos of long lines of bank customers at the ATMs.
Afraid a lot of Americans are at the breaking point. And for pretty good reasons.
But, I have no desire to be around them when the SHTF.
