Authorities have identified a “person of interest” in a mass casualty shooting that took place across several locations in Lewiston, Maine, as a military-trained firearms instructor with reported mental health troubles.

The horrifying scenes unfolded at around 7pm local time in Lewiston, a city of about 36,000 people in Maine, at Sparetime Recreation, a bowling alley on Mollison Way, and Schemengees Bar and Grille on Lincoln Street. Authorities have yet to confirm any other possible shooting locations reported by local media.

Israel and the US hope to achieve the element of surprise in order to penetrate Hamas tunnels, rescue an estimated 220 hostages, and kill thousands of soldiers belonging to Hamas’s al-Qassam Brigades, the source said in a statement, noting that the information comes from a leak originating in the US.

The bill to end ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, approved in the lower house last week, will now be sent to Putin for final approval. Putin has said that revoking Russia’s 2000 ratification would “mirror” the stance of the US, which signed but did not ratify the nuclear test ban.
