I had a lot of pain in childhood, and my alcoholic mother would give me aspirin constantly to try to shut me up. Turned out I had Osgood-Schlatter's, scoliosis and lime disease, all undiagnosed until I was in my teens. I never have had a working memory and wonder if the salicylates played a role. My mother (and father) swore she didn't drink during pregnancy. I have no syndromes, except for hypersomnolence which they say is not genetic but a learned response to being left alone in cribs and playpens a lot as a baby. I think I was inadvertently poisoned.
