As a career firefighter with over 37 years of full-time service I know first hand often a raging fire will have flaming embers blown from the initial fire location. These flaming embers are capable of igniting other fires in other areas, completely separate from the main fire area. In the video from Maui it appears flying embers may have ignited brush in the location where the two cars featured in the video are parked. The burning brush probably ignited fires in the cars. Tires have often been used by arsonists to provide a copious amount of fuel to accelerate the speed and intensity of a fire. It is also not unusual at a car fire to see melted metal. I don’t see anything out of the ordinary in the video.
