Ukrainian forces launched a barrage of rockets towards the city of Melitopol on Saturday night, hitting a hotel and restaurant complex, according to the acting governor of Russia’s newly incorporated Zaporozhye Region, Evgeny Balitsky.
Located near the Sea of Azov, Melitopol had a population of nearly 149,000 before the conflict.

Ukraine Asks NATO For Leftover Afghanistan Funds
NATO is considering using a $3.4 billion fund that was meant to support the now-defunct US-backed Afghan government to provide more aid for Ukraine, Politico reported this week.
Known as the Afghan National Army Trust Fund, the money was donated by individual NATO countries. The report said that Kyiv has asked NATO to consider using the money to support Ukraine in its war against Russia.

Major oil producers are concerned about the price cap imposed by the Group of Seven nations on Russian crude exports, Oman’s energy minister, Salim Al-Aufi, said in an interview with Bloomberg.
The limit on Russian seaborne oil, set at $60 per barrel, was introduced by the EU, the G7 countries, and Australia on December 5. It bans Western companies from providing insurance and other services to vessels loaded with Russian oil, unless the cargo is bought at or below the price indicated.

A federal appeals court has permanently blocked the Biden administration’s mandate on doctors and hospitals forcing them to perform gender transition procedures against their conscience.
The Eighth Circuit appeals court is the second circuit to block the mandate, after the Fifth Circuit ruled similarly earlier this year in Franciscan Alliance v. Becerra. The plaintiffs, a coalition of Catholic hospitals, a Catholic university, and Catholic nuns who run healthcare clinics for the poor, were represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty.
