City under fire as UN nuclear inspectors head to the area
Three people were killed in Energodar, Ukraine as an IAEA team is set to visit the nuclear power plant, officials report
At least three civilians were killed and one injured after Ukrainian troops shelled the city of Energodar in southern Ukraine, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported on Thursday, citing local officials.
Videos and photos posted on social media show clouds of smoke rising from the buildings.
The news comes as a team from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is heading to visit the embattled Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant located near Energodar.

SLOVIANSK, Ukraine — Russia and Ukraine traded claims of rocket and artillery strikes at or near Europe’s largest nuclear power plant on Sunday, intensifying fears that the fighting could cause a massive radiation leak.
Russian forces took control of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant soon after the war began and hold adjacent territory along the left bank of the wide Dnieper River. Ukraine controls the right bank, including the cities of Nikopol and Marhanets, each about 6 miles from the facility.

UN report accuses China of ‘crimes against humanity’

The United Nations’ human rights watchdog has issued a report accusing China of possible “crimes against humanity” in Xinjiang province, claiming Beijing has targeted Uyghur Muslims with arbitrary arrests and even torture. The Chinese government has vocally denied the charges, however.
The UN’s Office for the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) released the 48-page assessment on Wednesday, just minutes before the office’s top official, Michelle Bachelet, ended her term at the agency. The report alleged that Beijing has committed “serious human rights violations” against the Uyghur ethnic group in Xinjiang, citing interviews with 26 former detainees at facilities around the province, as well as information gathered by Bachelet during a six-day visit to China earlier this year.

US Air Force officers whose squadrons would be among those closest to the frontlines in case of any potential conflict with China have reportedly been ordered to use gender-neutral language in written reports under a policy that higher-ups claim will increase the “lethality” of America’s military.
“We must embrace, promote and unleash the potential of diversity and inclusion,” according to an order emailed earlier this year to officers at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam, which is part of the US Pacific Air Forces (PACAF). The Washington Free Beacon obtained a partial copy of the order and published it on Wednesday.

Syrian air defenses intercepted “a number” of Israeli missiles on Wednesday evening but several broke through and damaged the international airport in Aleppo, the Syrian state news agency SANA has reported.
The outlet said it was citing claims from military sources. “At around eight o’clock this evening, the Israeli enemy targeted Aleppo International Airport with a missile strike, which caused material damage,” it quoted one as saying.

This month, nine officers from five branches of the military signed and submitted to Congress a whistleblower report claiming the Department of Defense’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate is unlawful.
