Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan held bilateral talks on Monday, touching upon energy and food security, as well as major regional and geopolitical issues.

Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan met in Sochi on September 4 to discuss the creation of a gas hub in Turkiye, mutual trade, the use of national currencies, the Black Sea Grain Deal, and the Ukraine conflict, among other issues.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un plans to travel to Russia and meet with President Vladimir Putin this month, the New York Times and Associated Press reported on Monday, citing US and “allied” officials. 

According to the NYT, Kim would travel to Vladivostok, a city on Russia’s Pacific Coast, “probably by armored train,” where both leaders would attend the annual Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), scheduled for September 10-13, the report said, adding that Kim plans to visit a Russian naval base. Neither Moscow, nor Pyongyang have commented on the matter. 

UKRAINE BROADENS MILITARY DRAFT TO: WOMEN, DISABLED, HIV+

Commencing October 1, 2023, medical and Pharmaceutical female workers will be required to register with Military Commissions for Conscription (Draft) into war. Further, Doctors, Nurses, and Pharmacists will be banned from leaving Ukraine in three weeks time.

Female workers with other specialty skills can register with Military Commissions on a voluntary basis.  Women are to register for military service if they are suitable for military service up to age 60, and of good health. This will be determined a special commission. There is, however, no indication that anyone will listen to the complaints of the elderly or chronically ill women as the Ukraine legislature (Verkovna Rada) has already introduced a law on the mobilization of the partially-fit for military service.

The official made the remarks in an interview with state-run media outlet Ukrinform, published on Monday, in which he rejected corruption allegations and defended the ministry’s procurement policies during his tenure.
