UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid resigned on Tuesday as ongoing scandals plague the Conservative Party and Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The pair have issued a call for Johnson to quit, declaring he is no longer worthy of leading the country.
“Conservatives at their best are seen as hard-headed decision makers guided by strong values,” Javid wrote in his resignation letter. “We may not always have been popular, but we have been competent in acting in the national interest. Sadly, in the current circumstances, the public are concluding that we are now neither.”

A Ukrainian court on Tuesday banned the country’s Communist Party (CPU), marking the end of an eight-year saga, and adding the communists to the blacklist of 15 allegedly ‘pro-Russian’ political movements that are outlawed in Ukraine.
The Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal in the western city of Lviv announced that “the activities of the Communist Party of Ukraine are prohibited.”
“Funds and other assets” of the party will be nationalized.

Dutch Farmers Bring Tank To Fertilizer Protest; Cops Shoot Tractor
pdate (2112ET): Dutch protesters have taken things to the next level in the ongoing demonstrations - deploying a tank against a 'green' government scheme to reduce nitrogen in fertilizer that would see an estimated 30% of the country's farms shuttered.
The tank will presumably be used to block food distribution centers, following the use of tractors for that purpose earlier in the week.
Update (1920ET): Dutch police fired 'targeted shots' on Tuesday evening during a farmers' protest near the town of Heerenveen, the Pledge Times reports.
According to the police, a threatening situation arose when protesters tried to drive into officers and official cars. Warning shots were then fired and an officer also fired pointedly. No one was injured, but a tractor was hit. Three people have been arrested.
Because a police officer fired shots, the National Criminal Investigation Department will investigate the incident.
The Dutch farmers have blocked dozens of high roads & distribution centers. Lots of supermarkets are already out of milk/eggs.

One Day After White House Signs $3.2 Billion Pfizer Deal, FDA Says Fall COVID Boosters Must Target Omicron Subvariants
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advised COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers on June 30 that any modifications to booster shots for fall will need to target Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5, which account for more than half of new virus cases in the U.S.
Original vaccines based on the Wuhan strain that is no longer circulating will be used for anyone getting their primary series of shots.
The FDA’s announcement came a day after the Biden administration said it had already entered into a $3.2 billion deal with Pfizer to purchase 105 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine for a fall vaccination campaign. The announcement said these vaccines will include supplies of new unauthorized bivalent boosters containing the original Wuhan variant and BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Uruguay media report that a Montevideo judge has ordered disclosure of a range of information about Covid vaccines – within 48 hours. Administrative Judge Alejandro Recarey’s order is directed at the government, the Ministry of Health, the state health agency, and pharmaceutical giant Pfizer.
Among other things, detailed information on the vaccine composition and evidence of its safety is required.

A report produced by Oxford University and Imperial College London for the UK Government reveals that all airports will be ordered to close, eating beef and lamb will be made illegal, and construction of new buildings will not be permitted in order to meet the legal commitment of zero emissions by 2050.
The report states that all airports must close between 2020 and 2029 excluding Heathrow, Glasgow and Belfast airports, which can only stay open on the condition that transfers to and from the airport are done via rail.
All remaining airports must then close between 2030 and 2049 as to meet the legal commitment of zero emissions by 2050 every citizen of the United Kingdom must “stop using aeroplanes” for a significant period of time.
