Germany and Japan should not get permanent seats at the UN Security Council after voting against a Russia-sponsored resolution denouncing Nazism, a senior Russian diplomat has suggested.
The decision by Berlin and Tokyo “insults the memory of the victims of German Nazism and Japanese militarism,” Oleg Stepanov, the Russian ambassador to Canada, said in remarks to RIA Novosti, which the Foreign Ministry published in full on Tuesday.

Kiev's proposal of a so-called “peace summit” amid its conflict with Moscow would be impossible if Russia is not invited, Russia’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky said on Tuesday.
Writing on Telegram, the diplomat referred to an idea floated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba on Monday to hold such an event under the auspices of the UN by the end of February to mark the anniversary of Russia’s military operation against Ukraine.

Seoul deployed military aircraft and attack helicopters to chase a flock of birds that was mistaken for an intruding North Korean drone, local media reported on Tuesday, citing the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS). This incident occurred a day after five North Korean UAVs reportedly crossed into its neighbor’s territory.
According to the South Korean media, the military notified the fire department and local authorities in Ganghwa County, west of Seoul, that a drone was spotted in the area. The county officials then warned locals via text message around 3pm local time, urging them to take precautions.
Explosion in Iran injures at least 50 - state media
The injured were taken to hospitals and local authorities are investigating the incident.
An explosion in a paint factory in the Shahid Salimi Industrial Area in the Iranian city of Tabriz on Monday evening has resulted in at least 50 injured, and possibly more, according to Iranian state media outlet Tasnim.
Tasnim cited Mohammad Baqer Hanbar, Director General of Crisis Management of East Azarbaijan Governorate, as explaining that the explosion was caused by a gas leak.

Iranian pro-government media published an article on Sunday bragging about its “integrated missile network” and how it has armed the “resistance” in the Middle East.
By “resistance,” the report was referring to a network of pro-Iranian groups and proxy groups it supports, particularly Hezbollah, the Palestinians and Yemen.
Russia is now demanding ownership over 3 additional properties in Jerusalem
Russia has demanded that Israel transfer ownership over three historic churches, all of them located on the Mount of Olives, to Moscow’s control. Former Prime Minister of Russia Sergei Stepashin announced Sunday that he intends to file a lawsuit in an Israeli court to force the Jewish State to return ownership of the churches to Russia.
Stepashin is defined as “the head of the Palestinian Imperial Orthodox Society,” Ynet reported. The three targeted properties are those of the Mary Magdalene Monastery, the Ascension Monastery and the Church of Viri Galilaei, which also serves as the summer residence of the Greek Orthodox Patriarch, who is no fan of the Israeli government.

Housing collapse: Home sales drop for a record 10th straight month
(Natural News) The National Association of Realtors (NAR) reported on December 21 that existing-home sales fell for the 10th straight month in November as the Federal Reserve keeps raising interest rates.
The report included the sales of previously owned homes, indicating a decline of 7.7 percent in November from the previous month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.09 million – the weakest rate since May 2020. Also, November sales fell 35.4 percent compared to last year. The streak of declines is the longest on record going back to 1999, NAR said.

The Office for National Statistics has released weekly figures on deaths registered in England and Wales, and the most recent data reveals a troubling increase.
In the week ending on December 11th, there were 11,694 deaths, with 687 excess deaths against the 2016-2019 + 2021 five-year average and 999 excess deaths against the 2015-2019 five-year average.
While Covid-19 is often blamed for such increases, this time the numbers tell a different story. Out of all the deaths, only 326 were attributed to the alleged disease – a mere 2.8%.
