The United Nations General Assembly has overwhelmingly voted in favor of a resolution condemning the US embargo on Cuba for the 30th year in a row. Only the US and Israel voted against the measure on Thursday, while Ukraine and Brazil abstained.
Since 2019, the US has “escalated the siege around our country, taking it to an even crueler and more humane [sic] dimension, with the purpose of deliberately inflicting the biggest possible damage on Cuban families,” Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez told the assembled representatives.

The US has asked for a meeting at the United Nations Security Council to discuss a series of recent missile launches by North Korea, including an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) fired over the sea on Thursday morning.
Washington is seeking to meet publicly by Friday, UN Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield told MSNBC, accusing North Korea of violating “multiple” Security Council resolutions prohibiting missile tests.
South Korea's Defense Minister: "Any nuclear attack by North Korea will lead to the end of the Kim Jong-un regime. This is a strong warning against the DPRK."

The US does not plan to permanently base “strategic” weapons systems in South Korea at this time, but will evaluate that position in consultation with Seoul and Tokyo in order to deter any attack from North Korea, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters at the Pentagon on Thursday.
In a brief press conference after his meeting with South Korean Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup, Austin mentioned a recent arrival of US “strategic assets” to the peninsula, prompting a question from CNN.
South Korea expedites efforts to establish Iron Dome-style air defense system
SEOUL — The administration of South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol is expediting efforts to develop an advanced air defense system to counter North Korean rocket launches.
The move is intended to improve South Korea’s defense of metropolitan areas, such as Seoul and Incheon, and military facilities in the event of an emergency on the Korean Peninsula.
In mid-October, North Korea fired more than 900 warning rounds into the Sea of Japan and the Yellow Sea to put pressure on the South Korean military. Many of them are believed to have been rocket artillery.

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was shot and injured as he spoke during a protest march outside the town of Gujranwala on Thursday. Khan, who was rushed to the hospital after the incident, has been attempting to mount a political comeback after being ousted from power in April.
As Khan spoke to his supporters from the back of a truck, a gunman in the crowd opened fire. According to multiple media reports, the former PM was either hit in the foot or the leg.

The US is not as invincible as it might seem, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told students on Wednesday ahead what is called the National Day of Fight against Global Arrogance, celebrated on November 4.

Hedge fund giant Elliott warns looming hyperinflation could lead to ‘global societal collapse’

Central banks globally have been accumulating gold reserves at a furious pace last seen 55 years ago when the U.S. dollar was still backed by gold. According to the World Gold Council (WGC), central banks bought a record 399 tonnes of gold worth around $20 billion in the third quarter of 2022, with global demand for the precious metal back to pre-pandemic levels.
Retail demand by jewelers and buyers of gold bars and coins was also strong, the WGC said in its latest quarterly report. WGC says that the world's gold demand amounted to 1,181 tonnes in the September quarter, good for 28% Y/Y growth.

YouTube explained that it removed the church’s channel because their content violated the platform’s Community Guidelines. Content moderators labeled the violations as “severe,” adding that it is their job to make sure “YouTube is a safe place for all.”
