Ukraine Blows Up Togliatti-Odessa Ammonia Pipeline in Kharkov Region

MOSCOW, (Sputnik) - A Ukrainian sabotage group has blown up the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline in Kharkov region. There are casualties among the civilian population, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

"On June 5, at about 21:00 Moscow time [18:00 GMT], a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group blew up the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline near the settlement Masyutovka in Kharkov Region," the ministry said.

The explosion of the pipeline was designated as a terrorist attack, there are victims among the civilian population, they have "received the necessary medical assistance," according to the MoD.

Ukraine Nuclear Plant Safe For Now, IAEA Says, After Kakhovka Dam Collapse

Following yesterday's Kakhovka dam explosion and as flooding continues to wreak disaster for towns and villages downstream in Ukraine's south, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is assuring Ukraine and the world that the dam break is posing "no short-term risk" to Europe's biggest atomic plant.

While falling water levels have been observed in a reservoir used to cool the reactors for the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station, the late Tuesday IAEA statement cited "no short-term risk to nuclear safety and security."

The destruction of the Kakhovka dam on the Dnieper River could endanger the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, China’s ambassador to the UN, Zhang Jun, told the Security Council on Tuesday. Beijing has urged Ukraine and Russia to ensure this does not happen.

“We express our great concern over the destruction of the dam at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station,” Zhang told a special session of the council.

Tuesday saw the official reopening of the Iranian embassy in Saudi Arabia, hailed as a historic moment coming seven years after the two rivals cut off diplomatic ties completely. Sunni Saudi Arabia and Shia Iran were on opposing sides of the proxy war in Syria, with the Saudis joining the US and NATO countries in fueling the decade-long conflict there. 

Saudi-owned Al Arabiya news network confirmed the reopening, reporting that "Footage aired by al-Hadath TV, a sister channel of Al Arabiya, showed the Iranian flag being raised outside the embassy building in Riyadh, accompanied by the playing of the Iranian national anthem."

In November, the IRGC warned that a new hypersonic missile it was developing could hit Israel within 400 seconds.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, IRGC Commander-in-Chief Hossein Salami and other high-ranking officials. Later in the day, Iranian media published footage purporting to show a test launch of the missile.

According to Iranian media, the Fattah hypersonic missile has a range of 1,400 kilometers and hits speeds of Mach 13-15. The reports claimed that the missile is able to bypass and destroy air defense systems.

During the Jerusalem Post Annual Conference in New York, Economy Minister Nir Barkat addressed reports that Iran may be moving toward possession of nuclear weaponry. “It's very clear: we will never, never allow the Iranians to have nuclear power. The Iranians should be deeply concerned, because if they come close to that threshold, they must realize that nobody in Iran should sleep well at night, because we will never allow that to happen. They should be really, really concerned,” he warned.
