I have come to the conclusion that most people, when they were very small, were given the message by their parents that the world is a largely safe and just place and the authorities have our best interests at heart. Subsequently, most people find it intolerable to hear anyone contradicting that message. It's just too terrifying for them to contemplate.

I am no doctor, by any means, but I did grow up as a medical experiment. 75 surgeries and I am only 55. I understand, people who follow the crowd, and people who are “intuitively” correct. Being part of the medical world as only a patient saddens me to the point where I do not trust doctors or their staff or the administration. I fight constantly with doctors the med examiners board, writing letters how insane they have become. As I read your letter, I realized doctors are people too. I only wish there were more like you, who cared enough to write a letter to a friend. I wish I had a doctor-friend like that.
