You must - MUST - disable the wireless broadcast on your router. Good idea to use a cable connection - but just having that active does not stop the WiFi broadcast. Any ISP router installed in the last 10-12+ years will have WiFi active. You need to log into the router - and from there it's fairly simple to "disable" the WiFi broadcast. (something like \\settings\WiFi - look for an enable/disable control) User name / password of the router are likely shown on a tag on the router. The router address is probably 192.168.1.1 - put that into the address bar of a browser - and log in. If that does not work - get to a command prompt and type ipconfig /all - look for "default gateway" - that's the router address. Your internet provider can probably make this change for you remotely.
Of course you can turn off (unplug) the router to stop WiFi but then the ethernet cable will not work.
And for extra credit: get a USB cable - 15, 20 ft for the printer - plug it into the laptop when you want to print - absolutely no reason to use wireless printing - minor fumbling with the cable well worth eliminating the extra dose of printer radiation.
