Also a couple of years ago the nz govt made some changes which meant it was no longer financially viable to import certain products like nascent iodine. If they import more than a few bottles the tax they have to pay is huge. I’ve had to use nascent iodine since 2010 and always got it from a local pharmacy. But now I can’t even buy it from New Zealand online stores. I now have to get it from a place in Australia with the postage alone being $40 a bottle. If I buy four bottles it’s an extra $160 for postage even though all four bottles are in the same package. It’s not actually postage it’s a tax the sellers have to charge. Some places in Australia build it into the price so you pay nzd$100 per bottle. Others charge $56 and only add the extra $40 if it’s coming to nz

It is a sad state of affairs, when the government does not tell you what they are up to. To me it is not a conspiracy, the government does not work for the people. It rather is interested in corporate interests and their alliances to NGOS. This is not about health. It is about control.
A segue into this lunacy is government healthcare. As much as private insurance has its issues, nothing is more corrupting than any government-sponsored service. These services can run smoothly for decades until one day we wake up to find total tyranny.
