Like you, I try to find my news for myself (MSM averse) but it takes up a lot of time sorting through the inessentials and repetitions. It is a full time job, and like you I am tuning out a bit.
The social/environmental progress I always wanted to see in my lifetime has been systematically undermined - but at least I know why. I hope that the orchestrators of this crime collapse together with the civilisations they are destroying - I think they will. They have the death wish you mention that goes with their predatory mentality. Complex highly stratified societies easily become corrupt and the only way to stop this is to decentralise everything - as you say, small communities.
