House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has fired the starting gun on a monumental battle that could lead to Joe Biden becoming the first U.S. President removed from office - but there is still a long way for Republicans to go.
By launching a formal impeachment inquiry McCarthy has increased the chance of Biden, his son Hunter and their associates, being dragged before Congress to answer questions about allegations of corrupt foreign business dealings. The Bidens could now have their bank records, mortgage details, emails, text messages and mobile phones subpoenaed, along with anything else Congress wants to see.

The president of Russia has personally greeted the leader of North Korea at Vostochny Cosmodrome, according to a video of their handshake shared by the Kremlin on Wednesday.
Vladimir Putin came to Vostochny earlier in the day, following a two-day visit to the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok. Meanwhile the North Korean leader arrived at the facility onboard his armored train, after crossing into Russian territory on Tuesday morning.

Ukrainian forces have targeted port infrastructure in the Crimean city of Sevastopol, according to Mikhail Razvozhaev, the governor of the strategic city which hosts Russia’s Black Sea fleet. “Approximately 20 minutes ago, our enemies attacked Sevastopol,” Razvozhaev wrote in a Telegram post around 3:40am Wednesday morning. He later said that at least 24 people suffered various injuries as a result of the strike, with four of them reported to be in moderate condition, according to preliminary estimates.

A major food processing plant in Illinois has been shut down after a massive explosion ripped through the facility.
At least eight people have been reported injured at the processing plant in Decatur.
As of early Tuesday morning, five of the injured people remain hospitalized.
The explosion and resulting fire occurred at an Archer-Daniels-Midland (ADM) processing complex.
