Israel, Hamas Reach Deal on Truce, Hostage Release

The deal will see 50 hostages released during a 4-day ceasefire.

Israel's Cabinet approved a Qatari-brokered cease-fire and hostage-release deal with the Hamas terrorist group early Wednesday morning, the Israeli government announced.

The deal will see at least 50 of the 240 hostages, exclusively women and children, released over four days, "during which there will be a lull in the fighting." The Israeli government said that an additional "day of respite" will be added for every 10 hostages released.

The deal to release the hostages has the support of the IDF, Shin Bet, and the Mossad, and includes the release of about 140 security prisoners from Israeli prisons.

Israel has agreed to a condition laid out by Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar to halt Israeli UAVs in the Gaza airspace for six hours on each day of the ceasefire in exchange for the release of some of the hostages under Hamas's captivity, according to a Tuesday report by Walla.

The condition's implementation was addressed by an Israeli official who cited statements made by the IDF and Shin Bet, stating that they have intelligence-gathering capabilities even during the ceasefire days. "We will not be blind and we'll know what's happening on the ground," the official said.

The White House on Tuesday called out growing military ties between Russia and Iran, and said the Kremlin-backed mercenary Wagner group was preparing to provide air defense support to Tehran-backed Hezbollah forces.

White House national security spokesman John Kirby released the information Tuesday, following repeated warnings by President Biden and top U.S. officials for other actors to avoid exploiting Israel’s war on Hamas in Gaza. Israel is hoping to avoid an expanded front in Lebanon while it continues its effort to its efforts in Gaza. At the same time, U.S. forces in the region have reported experiencing dozens of attacks from Iranian-backed proxies.

US eliminates Iran-backed militants in Iraq amid continued rocket, drone attacks

A ballistic missile attack that targeted Ain al-Assad caused one death, several non-serious injuries, and some minor damage to infrastructure.

The US struck two facilities used by Iran-backed militias in Jurf al-Nasr in Iraq early Wednesday morning, after the militias continued rocket and drone attacks against US forces in the region on Tuesday. Initial reports by Iraqi media indicated that several militants were killed in the strikes.

US CENTCOM stated that it conducted "discrete, precision strikes" against two facilities in Iraq, adding that "the strikes were in direct response to the attacks against US and Coalition forces by Iran and Iran-backed groups, including the one in Iraq on November 21, which involved use of close-range ballistic missiles."

Pentagon Reveals US Forces Were Attacked 66 Times Since Uptick in Middle East Violence

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - US forces have been attacked 66 times in the Middle East since the uptick in violence that began in mid-October, Defense Department deputy spokesperson Sabrina Singh said on Tuesday.

"US forces have been attacked approximately 66 times since October 17. Thirty-two separate times in Iraq and 34 separate times in Syria," Singh said during a media briefing.

North Korea launched a military surveillance satellite into orbit on Tuesday, according to state media in Pyongyang and the South Korean military. The successful launch came after two failed attempts earlier this year.

The launch was announced by KCNA on Wednesday morning, with the state media outlet claiming that a rocket “accurately put the reconnaissance satellite ‘Malligyong-1’ on its orbit.”

Covid injections are discontinued in Iceland

In early October, a conference titled ‘Let the Science Speak ‘ was held in Reykjavik, Iceland.  Speakers at the conference talked about covid injection harms and the World Health Organisation’s power grab. Mount Ulawun on the island of New Britain in Papua New Guinea erupted at around 3:30 p.m. (0630 GMT) Monday, spewing volcanic smoke as high as 15,000 meters (50,000 feet), the agency said, quoting the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center in Darwin, Australia.
