Iranian 'Spy Ship' In Spotlight After Undersea Data Cables Linking Continents Severed

In a statement on Monday, Hong Kong-based HGC Global Communications revealed that four undersea communications cables in the Red Sea were severed, impacting about a quarter of the data transmission between Asia and Europe.

The incident occurred one week ago, with the full extent of the damage only now coming to light. The cut data cables include Asia-Africa-Europe 1, the Europe India Gateway, Seacom and TGN-Gulf, HGC Global said, adding this is "estimated impact 25% of traffic - around 15% of Asia traffic goes west-bound, while 80% of those traffic will pass through these submarine cables in the Red Sea."

A deployment of Western troops to Ukraine would increase the chances of igniting a third world war, he added.

Researchers confirmed that COVID-19 vaccines are linked to changes in the menstrual cycle, according to a study published in March.

Published in the Obstetrics & Gynecology journal on March 1, Oregon Health & Science University researchers found that women who received a COVID-19 shot in the first half of their menstrual cycle are more likely to receive cycle length changes than those who received the vaccine in the second half. Those researchers used data from 20,000 users of a birth control app that was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to determine what effects the vaccine has on the cycle.

Hundreds of explosions from an industrial building fire rocked a Detroit suburb Monday night, sending debris and canisters shooting far into the air, killing a 19-year-old, according to multiple reports.

Clinton Township Fire Department Chief Tim Duncan said on Tuesday morning that the 19-year-old was killed after being struck by a projectile from the explosion, according to WXYZ. The fire broke out at around 8:40 p.m. at a facility at 19100 15 Mile Road belonging to Select Distributors, a company that reportedly houses nitrous oxide tanks as well as novelty items and general merchandise, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Meta’s Facebook and Instagram are both experiencing outages as users are locked out of their accounts, sparking wild theories online that this is part of an effort to rig the US election.

Many have taken to Down Detector to report issues when logging in to social media sites. Andy Stone, communications director at Meta, posted on X, formerly Twitter: “We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now.” The issues have coincided with Super Tuesday as states across the country vote in Democrat and Republican primaries. A volcano on an uninhabited island in the Galapagos has begun erupting, lighting up the nighttime sky as lava tumbled down its sides toward the sea.

The La Cumbre volcano on Fernandina island began erupting Saturday around midnight in what officials with Ecuador’s Geophysical Institute said could be its largest eruption since 2017. The 1,476-meter (4,842-foot) volcano last erupted in 2020. Images shared on social media taken by visitors to the Galapagos show the volcano profiled against a crimson red sky.
