Speaking to lawmakers in Berlin on Wednesday, Scholz insisted Germany “will not accept a dictated peace at the expense of Ukraine.” “Law is stronger than violence,” the chancellor said, claiming that Putin had sought to violate that principle with the launch of Russia’s military operation against Ukraine in February 2022. “We will not let him get away with this,” he added.

The comment came after French President Emmanuel Macron said he would not rule out an eventual presence of NATO troops on Ukrainian soil, as the conflict between Kiev and Moscow continues. The French leader initially floated the idea in late February and later doubled down, describing Russia as an “adversary.” He denied that Paris was “waging a war” against Moscow, however.

Rejects claim that Macron prepared 2,000 troops to send to Ukraine

France's defense ministry has angrily denounced remarks made by chief of Russia's foreign intelligence service (SVR). SVR chief Sergey Naryshkin claimed Tuesday that France's Macron is already preparing a large contingent of troops to be sent to Ukraine. "Initially, it will include around 2,000 troops," he had said, but without providing any specific evidence to back the assertion. France's military condemned the remarks as a "provocation" - with a formal statement saying, "The maneuver orchestrated by Sergei Naryshkin, Director of Russian Foreign Intelligence, once again illustrates Russia's systematic use of disinformation." The defense ministry continued, "We consider this type of provocation irresponsible."

Ukraine Drones Again Target Strategic Bomber Base Deep Inside Russia

On Wednesday a wave of Ukrainian drones targeted a well-known airbase deep inside Russia which is home to strategic bombers.

The air base, called Engels 2, is near the Russian city by the same name, and nearby residents reported hearing at least four explosions during the attack. The Main Directorate of Ukraine's Military Intelligence (HUR) has since owned up to the attack, with sources in Russia confirming to international media that "targets had been hit" and the damage is being assessed.

Russia launches missile attack on Kyiv, 10 injured

Russia launched a ballistic and cruise missile attack on Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, early on Thursday, injuring at least 10 people and damaging residential buildings and industrial facilities, city officials said, although air defenses downed all the missiles.

Air alerts lasted for nearly three hours. An 11-year-old girl was among the two people taken to hospital, city officials said. Klitschko said missile debris hit several residential buildings, industrial sites, and a kindergarten across the city. Residents of a multi-story building in the central district of Shevchenkivskyi were evacuated after one of the apartments caught fire. The attack also shattered windows in several houses nearby, and set private cars ablaze, an official said.

Moldova-born Aleksander Somryakov was sentenced to six years in prison in July 2023 for spreading disinformation about the Russian army’s actions in Ukraine after he published ”a message on his social network page that was unreliable and refuted by official sources of information.”

Not true. The fine print says illegal immigrants have a shot at staying longer if they obtain a driver’s license, follow shelter rules, and show good behavior, or—get this one—apply for public benefits.

"I found out that there is a law that says that if a house is not inhabited, we can seize it," the migrant said in a video on TikTok, which Collin Rugg first posted on X. The migrant said he has African friends who have taken over seven homes thanks to squatting laws. The video is very concerning because progressive squatting laws are getting out of control. These laws are being abused, and landlords are being screwed. Take, for instance, a woman who found her home full of people squatting illegally was arrested this week for changing the door locks.

National Guard to be deployed for the upcoming Solar Eclipse

Oklahoma’s National Guard is set to be deployed for the upcoming total solar eclipse, when as many as 100,000 people are expected to visit one county.

In a statement on Tuesday, the guard said it would assist emergency management to cope with “an unprecedented number of tourists” on April 8 in McCurtain County, in the southeast of the state. The guard will provide first responders as well as units with hazmat response capabilities in case of an incident like an industrial fire. Lt.
