Speaker Johnson Announces $1.66 Trillion Bipartisan Package To Avert Shutdown

House Speaker Mike Johnson told colleagues on Sunday that Congressional negotiators have reached a topline spending figure to avert a federal government shutdown on Jan. 19 for some government agencies, and Feb. 2 for others.

According to a Sunday "Dear Colleague" letter, the topline deal - which mostly adheres to a deal reached between the White House and former speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), limits discretionary spending to $1.66 trillion overall.

Hagari outlined in the statement how Hamas operates throughout the region, utilizing civilian infrastructure and an uninvolved population.

The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower deployment comes as the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has kicked off his Middle Eastern tour in Turkey amid the multi-front tensions in the region that include Houthis’ hostilities in the Red Sea region.

Graves said, that protestors—if they were on restricted Capitol grounds on Jan. 6, 2021, and had not gone in the building—would have "committed a federal crime."

"We have used our prosecutorial discretion to primarily focus on those who entered the building or those who engaged in violent or corrupt conduct on Capitol grounds," Graves said in a press briefing on Jan. 4. He then suggested that others who went on the Capitol grounds themselves could be prosecuted.
