Three US Army soldiers were killed and over 30 service personnel were injured in an overnight drone attack on a small US outpost in Jordan, near its Syrian border, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Sunday. This is the first instance of American troops being killed by enemy fire in the region since the onset of the Gaza war. 

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq – an umbrella group for Shia militias – claimed the responsibility for the attack.

Tehran was not involved in the drone attack on a US base in Jordan which left three service members dead and more than 30 wounded, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said on Monday. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq – an umbrella group for Islamist Shia militias – claimed responsibility for the strike on the outpost known as Tower 22, not far from the border with Jordanian-Syrian border.

"I am outraged and deeply saddened by the deaths of three of our U.S. service members and the wounding of other American troops in an attack last night against U.S. and Coalition forces," he said in a statement.

“Concerning the recent very serious allegations against UNRWA, Estonia will not continue with the funding of the organization,” Estonian Foreign Minister Tsahkna wrote.

Details have been published about some of Israel’s specific accusations against individual employees of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees and their descendants, UNRWA, which have caused the agency to fire 12 workers and many countries to halt their funding for the body.

The New York Times, citing a dossier provided to the US government, reports that one UNRWA school counselor from Khan Younis in southern Gaza is “accused of working with his son to abduct a woman from Israel.”

'Largest Ever' NATO Exercise To Rehearse Russian Attack On Europe

A massive NATO military exercises slated to run all the way through the end of May has kicked off. Exercise Steadfast Defender 24 is being hailed as the largest NATO exercises since the Cold War. Some 90,000 troops from all 31 members states will take part.

Also, Sweden - which is on the cusp of formally entering the alliance after Turkish parliament belatedly signed off - is expected to sent troops and equipment. "The Alliance will demonstrate its ability to reinforce the Euro-Atlantic area via trans-Atlantic movement of forces from North America," a NATO statement said.

China just deployed dozens of warplanes and navy ships toward Taiwan after US-Beijing talks

Taiwan’s defense ministry announced on Saturday that over 30 Chinese warplanes were headed toward its country, in addition to navy ships.

Thirty-three aircraft were sent by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army from 6 a.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday, officials said. The aircraft included SU-30 fighters. Six Chinese navy vessels were also headed to Taiwan, and 13 of China’s warplanes crossed the median of the Taiwan Strait. According to the Associated Press, Taiwanese officials are currently monitoring the situation.
