Houthis fire missile at US warship, strike UK vessel in major maritime escalation
Attack on USS Carney marks first time Iran-backed group directly targets US warship since assaults on shipping started post-Oct. 7; British tanker in Gulf of Aden also hit
AP â Yemenâs Houthi rebels launched a missile Friday at a US warship patrolling the Gulf of Aden, forcing it to shoot down the projectile, and struck a British vessel as their aggressive attacks on maritime traffic continue. The attack on the US warship, the destroyer USS Carney, marked a further escalation in the biggest confrontation at sea the US Navy has seen in the Middle East in decades, as Houthi missile fire set another commercial vessel ablaze Friday night.
The United States Navy Essentially Lost A Battle At Sea This Week
On Wednesday the US Navy attempted to escort two US owned and flagged container carriers through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait into the Red Sea, but they turned around after coming under Houthi ballistic missile fire.
As we detailed earlier, two contradictory narratives soon emerged: namely the Houthis said they scored a direct hit on one of the US ships, while the Pentagon flatly rejected the claim as nonsense. US CENTCOM said the missiles were intercepted, with one falling into the sea. But this has given rise to many more questions than answers, and some analysts are calling the hostile encounter a clear "loss" for the US Navy and the no less than three well-armed warships attempting to keep the commercial vessels safe.Â
Yemen's Houthis attack British oil tanker in Gulf of Aden, fire reported
US and British warplanes, ships and submarines have launched dozens of air strikes across Yemen against Houthi forces in retaliation.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency and British maritime security firm Ambrey on Friday said they had received reports of a vessel being struck in the Red Sea near Yemen's Aden and a fire breaking out aboard.
UKMTO received a report of an incident approximately 60 nautical miles south east of Aden where "a vessel has been struck and is currently on fire."
Saudi Tankers Given Passage Through Red Sea By Houthis, Alongside Russia & China
China and Russia aren't the only countries being given a "pass" from Yemen's Houthi rebels, but Saudi Arabia is also exporting crude oil through the Red Sea as if in perfectly normal times (well, almost).
At a moment that especially Western and any and all Israeli-linked vessels are being targeted by rocket and drone attacks out of Yemen, the head of Aramcoâs refining, oil trading and marketing division Mohammed Al Qahtani has confirmed to Bloomberg, "Weâre moving in the Red Sea with our oil and products cargoes." He added that the risks remain "manageable".
ICJ tells Israel to âprevent genocideâ in Gaza, rejects ordering immediate ceasefire
In its decision, Hague court finds there is âplausibilityâ to South Africaâs claims that the rights of Palestinian not to be subjected to genocide must be urgently protected
The International Court of Justice ruled on Friday that at least some of Israelâs actions in the Gaza Strip during the ongoing war against Hamas could fall within the terms of the Genocide Convention and said it must therefore take a series of preventative measures. The decision, made 15-2, that there is âplausibilityâ to South Africaâs claims that Palestinians require protection from genocide, is damaging to Israel.
However, the court did not take the action most desired by South Africa and feared by Israel â that of ordering an immediate, unilateral ceasefire which would have stymied the war effort and indicated that the court believes genocide is actively taking place.
Biden said to tell Netanyahu he canât support year-long war in Gaza as elections near
In first call last week in almost a month, US president pressed premier on plans after war, Axios reports
US President Biden told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a phone conversation last week that he will not support a year-long war in Gaza, according to an Axios report Friday. Citing two anonymous US officials, the report said Biden asked Netanyahu to speed up the transition to low-intensity fighting against Hamas that would reduce harm to civilians and pressed him on an âend state.â
Israeli security chief to Netanyahu: Launch inquiry into October 7
Israel's government must establish a state commission of inquiry into Hamas's October 7 massacre, Shin Bet director Ronen Bar demanded of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a Thursday evening cabinet meeting, Israeli media reported.
"Establish a committee, and everything will become clear," Bar was quoted as saying.
US to redeploy nuclear weapons to UK â Telegraph
The Pentagon is reportedly looking to bring B16-12 bombs to eastern England
The United States is planning to deploy nuclear weapons to the UK for the first time in 15 years, The Telegraph reported Friday, citing Pentagon documents.
The report comes amid heightened tensions between NATO and Russia over the Ukraine conflict, and calls from some Western politicians to prepare for a potential armed clash with Moscow.
US ambassador threatens Hungary
David Pressman accused Prime Minister Viktor Orban of harming NATO and helping Russia
The US has the power to pressure Hungary if it refuses to adjust its foreign policy towards the EU, NATO and Russia, the American ambassador to Budapest, Davis Pressman, has warned. In an interview published on Friday in the Financial Times, Pressman laid out a list of complaints about Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, including his defiant stance on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and attitude towards President Vladimir Putin.
The Texas migrant drama is a distraction: US elites will keep the border wide open
Governor Greg Abbottâs feud with US President Joe Biden might entertain voters, but it wonât stem the tide of illegal migrants
Many of the beleaguered Americans who have watched their country be overrun for decades by never-ending streams of illegal aliens were cheered up by the latest salvo in Texas Governor Greg Abbottâs border-security feud with US President Joe Biden.
Itâs easy to see why. Watching the Biden administration wave in record flows of lawless migrants â with total disregard for the harms caused to American citizens â is painful, so seeing Abbott defy the federal government is soothing.
People's Convoy 2.0: Huge cavalcade of TRUCKERS will head to border hotspots in bid to shame Biden administration into cracking down on migration crisis
A massive convoy of truckers will make its way to three migrant hotspots across three states in a bid to shame the White House into tackling the worsening crisis.
Hundreds - possibly thousands - of big rigs will head for Eagle Pass in Texas, Yuma in Arizona and San Ysidro in California from January 29 for the four day 'Take Back Our Border' event. They hope the eye-catching, all-American protest will draw further attention to record numbers of migrants crossing the southern border and into the US, with multiple cities now buckling under the weight of trying to care for them.

America's drug shortage crisis MAPPED: One in five Americans can't access medications they need every month... so how severe is the problem in YOUR state?
One in five Americans have been impacted by crippling drug shortages, a report has warned.
Manufacturing issues, supply-chain hiccups and natural disasters have all prevented patients from accessing the medical treatment they need - including lifesaving drugs for cancer, epilepsy and type 2 diabetes. Of the 19 percent who faced a medicine or medical equipment shortage in the past month, 15 percent couldn't get a prescription medicine, five percent couldn't access over-the-counter medicine and three percent couldn't get home medical equipment, according to a ValuePenguin analysis of US census data.

New Study Claims Homegrown Gardenâs Carbon Footprint Is 6 Times Greater Than Conventional Farming
A new study recently published by the University of Michigan asserts that backyard and homegrown garden foods have upwards of six times the amount of carbon emissions, versus conventionally raised crops.
The study received greater attention after it was published in The Telegraph.
Religious Leaders Join UN, WEF To Push the Global Climate Agenda
Deep in a Cambodian old-growth forest, Buddhist "ecology monks" wrap trees in saffron clerical robes before ordaining the trees into the Buddhist faith.
The practice is an example of "forest activism" that spread to Cambodia after Thai monks in the 1990s began ordaining trees as they would a new monk. Ordained trees become sacred and protected from illegal logging because harming an ordained monk is taboo in the Buddhist religion. The recognition that religion can be a powerful tool when applied to selling the global warming narrative has been gaining traction at the United Nations and the World Economic Forum (WEF), where faith has traditionally been kept at arm's length.
The American Elite Want to RATION Food, Power, and Gas for the Rest of Us
Itâs looking more and more like an âus vs. themâ nation. A recent poll taken by Rasmussen (RMG Research) on behalf of The Committee to Unleash Prosperity had some alarming findings regarding how the richest 1% of America really feel about the rest of us.
Spoiler: They donât think highly of us. They couldnât possibly care less about our struggles. They live in an entirely different world than we do. What is even more unsettling about the conclusions you will read is that these people are the ones who can afford to contribute to political campaigns and influence policies and legislation in America. Weâd like to say that our government is a representative one, but letâs not kid ourselves. Money talks.
What are they trying to tell us? Internal Pentagon report warns America is unequipped to defend itself from an ALIEN invasion
US officials do not have the capabilities to defend America against a hypothetical alien invasion, internal Pentagon watchdogs have determined.
A newly declassified document found the Department of Defense (DoD) lacks comprehensive or coordinated effort to track and analyze UFOs - which have been rebranded Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) in recent years. The Office of Inspector General (OIG) made the eerie conclusion that this blindspot in the DoD's defensive capabilities 'poses a threat to military forces and national security.'
(WATCH) New Amazon Prime cartoon BOLDLY mocks Christian theology
While âHazbin Hotelâ has received rave reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, Lauren Chen is less than impressed.
The show centers around the daughter of Lucifer, who opens a rehabilitation hotel that offers a group of demons a chance at redemption â which supposedly will help reduce hellâs overpopulation. If the daughter, Charlie, isnât successful in rehabilitating the demons, then theyâll be killed by angels. Chen, who watched the show, says she âessentially spent two hours watching animated furries discuss their sexual deviances.â
BABOON MUMMIES REVEAL LOCATION OF MYSTERIOUS âLAND OF PUNTâ
The fabled âLand of Puntâ (Ta netjer or âGodâs Landâ) was a major civilization in the ancient world, but its location has remained a mystery long debated by scholars. Over fifty hieroglyphic inscriptions relating to Punt describe it as a sacred religious place and an important trading partner of Dynastic Egypt. Some scholars have also linked Punt to the Biblical âOphirâ where Solomon sent his ships.
Egyptian descriptions of the landâs luxurious wealth and exotic treasures make it seem almost mythical. Among the products imported from the area were gold, ebony, wild creatures, elephant tusks, animal skins, cosmetics, spices, incense and frankincense and myrrh trees. Many of these items were coveted by pharaohs for use in their traditional rituals and ceremonies.
All part of the plot and plan to make famine.
Yep, just wait for those UAPs to team up with the Iranians and we'll all be speaking Klingonese!
