Iran Mobilizes To Drive US Troops Out Of Iraq
When Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani arrived in New York City in September for the UN General Assembly, a delicate truce was in balance between the two foreign powers that loom over Baghdad. Iraqi paramilitaries, backed by Iran, had frozen their attacks on US troops in the country. Iraq’s new leader arrived in New York City amid the lull. He was feted on a circuit of swanky receptions with western businessmen and diplomats on the sidelines of the General Assembly, as he pitched Iraq’s oil-rich but corruption-riddled economy as an investment destination.
US and UK announce new strikes on Houthis
The British military has joined the bombing of Yemen for the second time
American bombers struck Houthi installations in Yemen again on Monday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has said. It is the second time British bombers have taken part in the operation, now known as ‘Poseidon Archer’. Royal Air Force (RAF) jets based in Cyprus had been involved in the January 11 attack, while the US used cruise missiles and aircraft from the USS Eisenhower. Since then, the US has carried out six more strikes on its own, reportedly targeting Houthi missiles as they prepared to launch.
Yemen Could Become Algeria For the US
After ten days of sustained bombing in Yemen failed to stop Houthi attacks on shipping vessels in the Red Sea, the administration of US President Joe Biden is reportedly developing plans to expand the conflict into a sustained military campaign.
The campaign, which still has not been authorized by Congress, was instigated by the Biden administration in response to Houthi forces attacking shipping vessels they claim are connected to Israel. After the initial US airstrikes on Yemen, Houthi forces announced that it would respond in kind.
Israel said to offer two-month pause in Gaza fighting for staged release of hostages
Report says proposal does not heed demand by Hamas to end war but appears to go further than past Israeli offers, including significant reduction in IDF ops once fighting resumes
Israel has reportedly submitted a proposal through Qatari and Egyptian mediators that would see it agree to pause its military offensive against Hamas for as long as two months, in exchange for a phased release of the remaining 136 hostages in Gaza. The proposal does not heed the Hamas demand for Israel to end the war completely, but does appear to go further than Israel has gone in previous offers, according to the Axios news site, which cited two Israeli officials.
Egypt-Israel ties at risk over Philadelphi Corridor, Cairo says
The head of the State Information Services (SIS) Diaa Rashwan said Israeli accusations that it had failed to secure that border were false.
Cairo issued a public warning to Israel on Monday that the ties between the two countries were at risk over IDF control of the Philadelphi Corridor, a narrow 14-kilometer buffer zone that runs along Egypt’s border with Gaza. “It must be strictly emphasized that any Israeli move in this direction will lead to a serious threat to Egyptian-Israeli relations,” the head of the State Information Services (SIS) Diaa Rashwan said in a statement he issued.
IDF says 21 soldiers killed when two buildings collapsed, tank hit in central Gaza
IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari says a total of 21 soldiers were killed in the incident yesterday in central Gaza, close to the border community of Kissufim.
He says that troops were operating in an area around 600 meters from the border, destroying structures and Hamas sites, as part of the army’s efforts to establish a buffer zone to allow residents of Israeli border communities to return to their homes.
“As far as we know, at around 4 p.m., an RPG was fired by terrorists at a tank securing the forces, and simultaneously, an explosion occurred at two two-story buildings. The buildings collapsed due to this explosion, while most of the forces were inside and near them,” he says.
Gallant after 21 soldiers killed in central Gaza incident: ‘Deaths compel us to achieve war’s goals’
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says it is a “difficult and painful morning” after the military announces 21 soldiers were killed in an incident in the southern Gaza Strip yesterday. The soldiers were killed when two buildings collapsed following a large explosion, and a tank was apparently hit by an RPG.
“Our hearts are with the dear families in their most difficult time,” the defense minister writes. “This is a war that will determine the future of Israel for decades to come – the fall of the soldiers compels us to achieve the goals of the fighting,” Gallant writes.

Vote boycotted by the coalition; opposition’s Liberman: It’s impractical to hold elections during wartime
With the government’s popularity plummeting, a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nevertheless garnered only 18 votes in the Knesset on Monday evening, falling far short of the necessary majority to pass in the 120-strong Knesset plenum.
The vote was boycotted by the coalition, whose heads stated earlier in the day that they would “not take part in political theater during wartime.”

Supreme Court Allows Federal Government to Remove Texas Border Wire
The high court issued a 5–4 vote on Jan. 22.
The Supreme Court voted 5–4 to allow U.S. Border Patrol agents to remove razor wire that was set up along the U.S.–Mexico border by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, while a legal challenge plays out.
In a brief order, the high court vacated a ruling issued in mid-December 2023 by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh voted to deny the application to vacate that lower court injunction, which would have prevented Border Patrol agents from removing the barrier.

Migrants outside an East Village intake center have been crappy neighbors.

Brutal Reality: Psychopaths Form Majority of Today’s World Leaders
When one hears and sees Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu, declaring the absolute supremacy of his Zionist tribe and its goals of ‘taking back’ the State of Israel – via the slaughter of any and all Palestinian ‘animals’ whose home land is the Gaza Strip – one is confronting face to face, a clinically insane individual whose medical condition, if it were to be officially assessed, would be described as ‘psychopath’.
In a properly functioning society such a person would be hospitalised and made to undergo special psychological and medical treatment, or would be sent to an asylum where he would not be a threat to the outside world.
