Explosion, fire hits major gas pipeline in Iran

Iran says an explosion and fire affecting a main gas pipeline in the country’s west is being managed, with some reports describing the incident as a terrorist act, but others calling it an accident.

No casualties are reported after the blast, which occurred at around 1:50 a.m. local time near the city of Borujen in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province. A report carried by the state-run ISNA news outlet quotes an official managing the pipeline saying that the supply of gas to most of the country is unaffected, though gas was cut to areas near the explosion.

A natural gas pipeline has exploded near a city in southwestern Iran, state news outlet Mehr reported, adding there were no reported casualties of the blast. A later report from Reuters cited Iran’s oil minister as saying the blast – and another one on the same pipeline – were the result of sabotage.

IDF fighter jets engage in wave of attacks on Hezbollah after Israeli soldiers wounded

IDF warplanes began an extensive wave of attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanese territory on Wednesday in response to Israeli soldiers who were wounded by rocket fire, the IDF said. Earlier, several soldiers were hospitalized from rocket fire in northern Israel on Wednesday morning as Hezbollah ramped up its attacks on Israeli cities.

Hassan Nasrallah, the head of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, said on Tuesday that his terror group’s cross-border shelling into Israel would only end when Israel’s “aggression” on the Gaza Strip stops, and claimed diplomatic efforts so far to bring a halt to hostilities along the border have so far seemed to only benefit Israel. The Iran-backed Hezbollah has been trading fire with the Israeli military across Lebanon’s southern border in support of its Palestinian ally Hamas, which launched a devastating assault in Israel on October 7 in which some 1,200 Israelis were massacred and 253 were taken hostage into Gaza.

Representatives of hostage families arrive at the Hague to file complaint against Hamas leaders

Representatives of kidnapped family members arrived at The Hague to file a complaint against the leaders of the Hamas in the International Criminal Court (ICC), Israeli media reported on Wednesday.

While the hearing is yet to happen, the representatives had gathered outside the ICC to form a protest, including speakers from the hostage families. The complaint is reported to contain around a thousand pages of evidence about genocide, human kidnapping, crimes of sexual violence, torture, and other charges.

Netanyahu didn't authorize Israeli delegation to leave for follow-up talks in Cairo

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu didn't approve of sending an Israeli delegation for follow-up talks with Egyptian intelligence officials in Cairo on Thursday, Walla reported.

Haim Rubenstein, the spokesperson for the Hostage and Missing Families Forum, responded to this development, saying "The families of the hostages were stunned by the decision to thwart the Cairo negotiations. It appears that some members of the cabinet decided to sacrifice the lives of the abductees without admitting it."

Since the start of the ground operation in Gaza, the IDF has obtained several videos of the leader of the terrorist organization in Gaza, in which he is seen inside the tunnels built by Hamas.

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has called on US Vice President Kamala Harris to declare Joe Biden physically unable to perform his duties as president. The demand was issued in a letter sent to Harris on Tuesday.  Last week, a report by US Department of Justice special counsel Robert Hur described the 81-year-old president as an “elderly man with poor memory,” although he advised against prosecuting Biden for the mishandling of classified documents.

Questions over Biden’s mental decline soared above the fold of partisan fodder last week and can no longer be pinned on him just being a forgetful public speaker. Special counsel Robert Hur concluded in his report that Biden did not remember when he was vice-president or within “several years” when his son Beau died.

Biden responded to the report by getting angry and shouting at reporters, claiming his memory was fine before then mixing up the leaders of Mexico and Egypt.

House Impeaches Mayorkas In Historic Vote

Exactly a week after a failed attempt, the House has impeached Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, under whose tenure more than 10 million illegal immigrants have entered the US - doubling the existing population of migrants.

Last week's effort to impeach Mayorkas failed by one vote because three Republicans voted with all the Democrats against the move. The vote was made possible only by the return of House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), who missed last week’s vote while undergoing treatment for blood cancer, according to The Hill.

Russia has used a Zircon hypersonic cruise missile for the first time in Ukraine, according to experts.

Oleksandr Ruvin, director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, said in a Telegram post on Monday that staff at the institute had found identifying markings among the missiles launched in an attack last Wednesday. "This is evidenced by the markings on parts and fragments, the identification of components and parts, and the features of the relevant type of weapon," Ruvin wrote, per a translation by the Kyiv Independent.
