Pentagon divulges number of US-funded biolabs in Ukraine
US insists 46 “peaceful” facilities were all about public health and safety
The US government has supported 46 facilities in Ukraine over the past 20 years, but as part of a peaceful public health project rather than to develop biological weapons, the Pentagon said on Thursday. The US military accused Russia and China of “spreading disinformation and sowing mistrust” about its efforts to rid the world of weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
This is the first time the US Department of Defense disclosed the exact number of facilities its government has supported in Ukraine, in a document titled ‘Fact Sheet on WMD Threat Reduction Efforts.’

A court in Donetsk has sentenced to death three foreign men, who served in the Ukrainian forces and fought for Kiev in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). British citizens Aiden Aslin and Shaun Pinner, as well as Moroccan Saadun Ibrahim, were found guilty on Thursday of acting as mercenaries and attempting to seize power by force in the DPR.
They were also accused of undergoing training in order to carry out terrorist activities on the territory of the state, which was recognised by Russia in February. Kiev, and most of the world, regards it as a breakaway province of Ukraine.

A UK citizen who fought for Ukrainian forces in Mariupol before surrendering in mid-April has told RT that he regrets his decision to fight for Kiev.
Aiden Aslin said the Western media had played a major role in convincing him to support the Ukrainian cause and eventually made him a “pawn” in a political game.
He was speaking to RT in an interview before a court in Donetsk sentenced him and two other foreigners to death on charges of acting as mercenaries and seeking to seize power by force in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
Aslin said he had followed the Ukrainian conflict since 2014 and was “originally pro-Russian” and “pro-Donbass.” He supported Crimea’s reunification with Russia and believes the people of Donbass have a right to independence.

Iran's foreign ministry spokesman on Wednesday blasted the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) decision to censure Iran.
The spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh, said in a tweet quoted by Reuters that his country's response to the resolution would be "firm and proportionate” and added that "the initiators are responsible for the consequences.”

The IAEA has passed a resolution calling on Iran to cooperate with the investigation against it.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has adopted a resolution criticizing Iran for its refusal to cooperate with its inspectors and calling for Iran to begin cooperating with the nuclear watchdor agency, AFP reported.
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett praised the IAEA's decision to pass the resolution, calling it "a clear warning light to Iran."

WHO issues monkeypox surveillance, contact tracing, and isolation guidance
Much of the language of the release mimics early COVID-19 guidance.
“The key objectives of surveillance and case investigation for monkeypox in the current context are to rapidly identify cases and clusters in order to provide optimal clinical care; to isolate cases to prevent further transmission; to identify and manage contacts; to protect frontline health workers; and to tailor effective control and prevention measures,” the WHO writes.
According to an interim guidance sheet, even “one case of monkeypox is considered an outbreak,” and physicians should immediately alert public health authorities if they suspect a patient has any symptoms.

Vaccine makers were able to deliver Covid-19 vaccines in record time partly because they were already developing jabs for Mers, another coronavirus. But Hatchett said that unless shots were prepared for other virus families, the world might not be as lucky next time.

This past Sunday was the end of the 2022 Bilderberg meetings at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington, scheduled to take place from June 2nd to the 5th.
