EU to send investigators to probe alleged war crimes in Ukraine
People behind these “heinous crimes” must not go unpunished, EU Commission head has said
The EU will send a team of investigators to Ukraine to probe alleged war crimes on the ground, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Monday, after holding phone talks with the country’s president Volodymyr Zelensky. The move comes after multiple dead civilians were found in Bucha, a suburb of the capital, over the weekend, with Kiev promptly attributing the killings to Russian troops.
“This afternoon I spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the dreadful murders that have been uncovered in Bucha and other areas from which Russian troops have recently left,” von der Leyen said in a statement.

I have argued here before that the global situation today more closely resembles the 1970s than any other recent period. We are in something like a new cold war. We already had an inflation problem. The economic impact of the war on energy and food prices is creating a risk of stagflation.

Western weapons are reaching Ukraine; they did not get to Poland after Nazi Germany’s invasion. Ukraine faces only a threat from Russia; Poland was partitioned between Hitler and Stalin.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine has opened Finland's eyes to the urgent need to join NATO quickly this spring, without a referendum, according to Prime Minister Sanna Marin on Saturday.

The work had stopped by 5 p.m. local time Wednesday, the China News Service reported, citing a staff member for the Langfang Center for Disease Control and Prevention. It is not clear how many animals were killed.

University of Toronto drops vaccine mandate
After getting hit with a human rights complaint, the University of Toronto has announced that it is “pausing” the vaccine mandate, as well as the mask mandate, on May 1.
In February, a group of faculty sent a letter to the university president outlining their human rights complaint filed to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO).
“U of T [must] immediately revoke all suspensions and terminations of employment related to U of T’s vaccination mandate by instead providing the necessary accommodations required under the Human Rights Code, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.19.”
“Despite [the evidence], U of T [has] continued with its draconian policy and, in fact, outlandishly and outrageously upped the ante by terrorizing its faculty and staff that there would be broad suspensions at the start of 2022,” the complaint read.
The University doubled down on March 4, stating that the policy would remain in place until the end of the academic term, which meant they were keeping the mandate until at least the summer and possibly bringing it back for the Fall term.
