PM: For peace, Hamas must be crushed, Gaza demilitarized, Palestinians deradicalized
Netanyahu outlines 3 prerequisites in WSJ op-ed, makes no mention of hostages or two-state solution, repeats opposition to Palestinian Authority role in ruling post-war Gaza
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that before there is peace between Israel and the Palestinians, âHamas must be destroyed, Gaza must be demilitarized, and Palestinian society must be deradicalized.â
The three prerequisites were detailed in an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal, in which the premier reiterated his stance that the Palestinian Authority is unfit to govern the Gaza Strip after Hamas is vanquished, a position that has put him at odds with US President Joe Bidenâs administration.
TV report: IDF shifting strategy to low-intensity, long-haul Gaza operation
The Israeli military is preparing to shift strategies in Gaza, realizing that it has squeezed what it could out of high-intensity fighting, and must now dig in for a prolonged low-boil engagement aimed at toppling the Hamas terror group, Channel 12âs military reporter says.
The reported shift just happens to dovetail with US demands that Israel ease up on its high-energy bombardments and surges of troops into urban areas, and just in time for an unofficial January deadline.

Armenia Considers Departure From Russia-Led Military Bloc
Armenia's possible exit from the Russia-led Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is being discussed more and more actively as differences grow between Yerevan and Moscow.
Many in Armenia are wondering what the point is of remaining in a military alliance that has demonstrated its unwillingness to protect the country. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has repeatedly denied claims, including by Russian officials, of an imminent change in Armenia's foreign policy vector, but that has not stopped speculation as to how the country might leave the CSTO and what would come next. Representatives of the authorities are themselves musing about this prospect.Â

Church nativity scene featuring two mothers of Jesus sparks accusation of blasphemy
Pro-life and family campaigners in Italy have hit out at a âdangerous and blasphemousâ church nativity scene featuring two mothers of the baby Jesus instead of Mary and Joseph figurines. An online petitioncalling on the bishop in the province of Avellino to intervene has attracted more than 21,000 signatures.
It claimed the scene contradicted the Catholic Churchâs teachings about the family and legitimized same-sex parenting and surrogacy. But the priest at the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, in the Avellino hamlet of Capocastello di Mercogliano, east of Naples, has defended its depiction of Jesusâs birth.
