McConnell: US Must Prosecute Those Behind ‘Lawless’ Leak of SCOTUS Draft Decision on Roe v. Wade
Late Monday night, Politico published a draft opinion authored by Justice Samuel Alito revealing that SCOTUS had voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, a 1973 decision that protects a pregnant woman’s liberty to elect to have an abortion without excessive government restriction. The leak has brought crowds of abortion rights protesters to Washington, DC.
As states brace for the impending SCOTUS ruling in regard to Roe v. Wade, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is calling for the prosecution of those involved in the “lawless” leak of SCOTUS Justice Samuel Alito’s draft majority opinion.

Update (1121ET): The Supreme Court issued a rare rebuttal to Monday's leaked Politico report on a draft opinion overturning abortion rights in the US.
Yesterday, a news organization published a copy of a draft opinion in a pending case. Justices circulate draft opinions internally as a routine and essential part of the Court’s confidential deliberative work. Although the document described in yesterday’s reports is authentic, it does not represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case.
Chief Justice John G. Roberts. Jr., provided the following statement:
To the extent this betrayal of the confidences of the Court was intended to undermine the integrity of our operations, it will not succeed. The work of the Court will not be affected in any way.

Russian and Ukrainian media claim the steelworks has come under heavy artillery fire and aerial bombardment
Fighting has resumed at the Azovstal plant in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, several media outlets reported on Tuesday, with footage circulating on social media featuring plumes of smoke billowing from the steelworks. The escalation appears to put an end to the evacuation ceasefire declared earlier by Russian forces.
The Donetsk People’s Republic accused the Ukrainian military and members of the neo-Nazi Azov regiment holed up at the industrial facility of taking advantage of the evacuation ceasefire and using the lull in the fighting to change positions.

A United Nations director has warned there are millions of tons of grain stuck in Ukraine as Russia's war disrupts food production.
Regional director of the United Nations’ World Food Programme, Germany-based Martin Frick, has said there are as many as four and a half million tons of grain just sitting at Ukrainian ports waiting to be exported.
In comments reported by The Guardian, Frick said:
“None of the grain can be used right now.
"It is just sitting there…
"The world urgently needs these items of food from Ukraine.”
Massive Chinese fleet seen barreling toward U.S. naval base
The largest Chinese aircraft carrier group reportedly ever assembled is conducting combat training near a U.S. naval base in Japan, according to multiple Chinese media sources on Tuesday.
China’s aircraft carrier “Liaoning,” as well as seven other vessels, are reportedly performing a naval expedition in close proximity to Nagasaki, Japan, and the U.S. Navy base at Sasebo, according to a Tuesday report from China’s Observer News translated by the Daily Caller News Foundation. The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier is also in the vicinity, according to the report.

France has culled a record 16 million chickens, ducks and other poultry since November 2021 in one of the most severe bird flu outbreaks in years. In 2021, the country saw nearly 500 outbreaks and culled 3.5 million animals, mostly ducks.
According to the French Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the 2021/22 epidemic reached its peak at the end of March and it seems it’s now slowing down.
Since the first case in this outbreak was detected on November 26, 2021, the virus has spread to 1 364 farms, with more than a half in the country’s west.

The Supreme Court on Monday said that no person can be forced to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and directed the Central government to make public adverse effects of vaccination.
A bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao and BR Gavai said bodily autonomy and integrity are protected under Article 21 of the Constitution. The top court said the current COVID-19 vaccine policy cannot be said to be manifestly arbitrary and unreasonable.
"Till numbers are low, we suggest that relevant orders are followed and no restriction is imposed on unvaccinated individuals on access to public areas or recall the same if already not done," the bench said.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) bought access to location data harvested from tens of millions of phones in the United States to perform analysis of compliance with curfews, track patterns of people visiting K-12 schools, and specifically monitor the effectiveness of policy in the Navajo Nation, according to CDC documents obtained by Motherboard.
The documents also show that although the CDC used COVID-19 as a reason to buy access to the data more quickly, it intended to use it for more general CDC purposes.

U.S. health officials on Tuesday restated their recommendation that Americans wear masks on planes, trains and buses, despite a court ruling last month that struck down a national mask mandate on public transportation.
Americans age 2 and older should wear a well-fitting masks while on public transportation, including in airports and train stations, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended, citing the current spread of coronavirus and projections of future COVID-19 trends.
