As we approach mid-May, the question on everyone’s mind is “where is the big Ukrainian counteroffensive”?

This much-touted event has been percolating in the western mainstream media and social media channels since the Fall of 2022, when the commanding general of the Ukrainian armed forces, Valeri Zaluzhnyi, informed the US and NATO-led Ukraine Contact Group during a meeting in Ramstein, Germany, about the shopping list of military equipment Ukraine would need to carry out a successful offensive operation designed to expel Russian troops from Ukrainian soil.

US Military Aid to Ukraine May Dry Up by July

The US has already sent around $36 billion worth of military assistance to Kiev amid Russia’s repeated warnings that doing so will prolong the conflict in Ukraine.

Washington’s funding for its security aid to Kiev could dry up by midsummer, and “reupping it won’t be easy,” a US media outlet has cited unnamed sources as saying.

A precision strike by a Russian hypersonic Kinzhal missile has destroyed a Patriot air defense system in Kiev, the Defense Ministry in Moscow reported on Tuesday. The Ukrainian government previously claimed that Kinzhal missiles had been intercepted by the US-made weapons platform.

The Russian military did not provide further details about the strike, which was the first time Moscow claimed to have hit the long-range system supplied to Ukraine by its Western backers.

Russia Strikes Ukrainian Arms Depot, Prompting Speculation Of Possible Fallout

Moscow says its forces have destroyed a large munitions depot in Ukraine’s western city of Khmelnytskyi.

“One AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] ammunition depot has been destroyed close to Khmelnytskyi,” the Russian Defense Ministry stated in its daily briefing for May 14. Khmelnytskyi, the target of Russian strikes in February, is located roughly 170 miles southwest of Kyiv.

Russia's defense ministry on Monday said the military scrambled fighter jets in response to surveillance aircraft from NATO countries approaching its border. Interfax reported based on the statement that German and French aircraft approached the Russian border in the Baltic region, before being warned off by the Russian fighters.

"Two air targets were detected approaching Russia's state border," the defense ministry said. "In order to identify the targets and prevent the Russian state border being violated, an Su-27 fighter from the Baltic Fleet air force was scrambled."

The face-to-face negotiations, which will take place at 15:00 Washington time (19:00 GMT), will be attended by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Democratic Minority Leader Hakim Jeffreys, and Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. Other details of the upcoming discussions have not been disclosed.

Filed in a US district court in New York on Monday, the subpoena ordered Musk to turn over all communications he may have had with Epstein or JPMorgan, documents showing any fees he may have paid to the US banking giant, as well as all material “regarding Epstein’s involvement in human trafficking and/or his procurement of girls or women for commercial sex” dating back to 2002.

Backlash has ensued following the renewed focus on the World Health Organisation’s “sexuality education” guidance for schools to provide to children as young as four years old.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the guidance states that children under four should be encouraged to “ask questions about sexuality” and “explore gender identities.”

The 68-page report titled Standards For Sexuality Education in Europe, also calls for supplying information to toddlers about “enjoyment and pleasure when touching one’s own body, early childhood masturbation.”
