CBC and CTV News journalists have been contacting people who donated to the freedom convoy in an attempt to "understand why they support this."
CBC and CTV News journalists have reportedly been contacting people who donated to the truckers' freedom convoy in an attempt to "understand why they support this."
CTV News reporter Graham Richardson said on Tuesday that he has spent the last two days calling people "who have donated to the trucker convoy," including a former MP, business owners, health care professionals, and a property developer.
He likely has the information because of a cyberattack that was executed on crowdfunding site GiveSendGo, that left the site shut down for a number of days, and made a list of donors publicly available.
According to Ezra Levant of Rebel News, the CBC has also been "combing through the illegally hacked database of GiveSendGo donors" and emailing donors asking them to explain themselves.

Addresses were not limited to NSW, and included other states and territories if those businesses or the parent organisation had registered with the government to comply with mandated Covid-Safe procedures.

An Alberta man arrested during a weapons-cache bust near the Canadian border is an 'incredibly good human being' and a single father of two, a friend says.
Calgary resident Johnson Chichow Law, 39, was among 11 people charged Monday in the Village of Coutts, near the Montana border. Police seized multiple long guns, hundreds of bullets and body armor during their investigation.
Law, who was charged with mischief and possession of a weapon, looks after his two young daughters full-time and is a hard worker, a friend told DailyMail.com on Tuesday.
'I'm honestly shocked by this news,' said his friend, who requested to remain anonymous given the contentiousness of the protests.
The mayor of Coutts told DailyMail.com that those arrests were not members of the Freedom Convoy, despite them being initially tied to the ongoing anti-vaccine protests.
'The people who were actually involved in the arrests were not part of the blockade group,' he said. 'They were outsiders.'

Recent Department of Homeland Security (DHS) decisions to monitor trucker protests and link domestic terrorism to misinformation have prompted backlash from some conservatives and civil libertarians, but DHS Counterterrorism Coordinator John Cohen defended his department’s actions at a Feb. 15 online event.
The DHS’s Feb. 7 bulletin warned of a heightened terrorism threat because of “false and misleading narratives,” misinformation, and “conspiracy theories.”
“The United States remains in a heightened threat environment fueled by several factors, including an online environment filled with false or misleading narratives and conspiracy theories, and other forms of mis- dis- and mal-information introduced and/or amplified by foreign and domestic threat actors,” the bulletin said.
