Kiev attempts 'terror attack' on Russian civilian ships – MOD

The raid occurred as the vessels were heading for the Bosporus Strait, the Defense Ministry has said

Ukrainian maritime drones tried to attack Russian civilian vessels in the Black Sea, but were destroyed by Russia's navy escort ships,  the Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday.

In a statement, the ministry said that “overnight, the Kiev regime tried to stage a terror attack on Russian civilian transport ships heading for the Bosporus Strait in the southwestern part of the Black Sea, which used three semi-submersible unmanned boats.”

Ukrainian drones have once again targeted the Russian capital’s financial and business district, following a similar attack over the weekend, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed early on Tuesday.

One drone has managed to penetrate air defenses and hit one of the high-rises in Moscow City, where some of Europe’s tallest skyscrapers are located, Sobyanin said in a Telegram post around 3:40am.

Chilean-American blogger Gonzalo Lira, arrested by the Ukrainian intelligence in May on charges of pro-Russian sympathies, reappeared online on Monday and told a sordid tale of beatings and extortion while awaiting a show trial.

“I was tortured in two of the four cells I was in—by the other prisoners,” Lira posted in a 25-tweet thread on Monday evening, noting that all the torture in the pre-trial detention center (SIZO) was outsourced to the inmates.

Saudi Arabia is now deigning to play peace-maker in Ukraine, having issued an invitation to several developing nations in order to woo them into Kiev and the West's corner on the conflict. This has included an invite for China, India, Brazil and South Africa to come to Jeddah in early August. 

Ukrainian government representatives will reportedly also be there, but have yet to publicly confirm the plans, reported by The Wall Street Journal over the weekend. A top level White House official is also expected to represent the United States.

Discussing peace in Ukraine makes sense only with the participation of both Kiev and Moscow, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Monday. Because that is not the case with the upcoming talks in Saudi Arabia, he added, his country does not intend to participate.

“If both Ukraine and Russia agree to seek options to achieve peace in this conflict, we will participate, if the parties in conflict agree and convene for that purpose,” the president, known as AMLO, said at his regular press conference.

Then-Vice President Joe Biden joined Hunter Biden’s dinners with foreign business associates in person or by speakerphone more than 20 times, the statement said.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Monday told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee in a special closed session at military headquarters that the IDF is still war-ready, but that continued quitting by reservists en masse protesting government policy could erode that readiness in the medium term.

No top defense officials want to define what that time period would be, and war readiness is not a binary concept, with different units being at different states of readiness and distinct kinds of missions requiring more reservists, while others require less.

Project Veritas on July 25 disclosed that it was able to acquire nearly eight gigabytes (GB) of data from the Chinese government's "five-year plan," to become the sole global superpower. The non-profit investigative news organization got an alert that an exposed web server belonging to one of China's state-sponsored enterprises can be accessed by the public. The team was able to download about 400 files without a password.

In line with the massive campaign to ditch physical banking services to pave the way to central bank digital currency (CBDC), nearly 100 bank branches are to close down in the United Kingdom in the coming weeks. Leaving customers with limited options, a number of major high street banks are moving more of their banking services online.

According to Britain's largest cash machine network LINK, dozens of banks are closing their brick and mortar doors, including HSBC, Barclays, NatWest and Halifax. British tabloid newspaper TheSun reported that Barclays is closing 29 branches between now and the end of August, while NatWest is stopping operations on the 19th. Also, Halifax is shutting two branches while HSBC will discontinue serving customers by the 27th.

It is estimated that airlines across North America will suffer shortages of around 30,000 pilots over the next decades, as the U.S. is failing to train enough, with others opting to retire early. “The supply of new pilots will grow, but not enough to offset a continuing wave of retirements,” states the management consulting firm, Oliver Wyman.

U.S. District Court Judge Brian Morris – appointed by President Obama in 2013 – suspended the law because, he argued, the 15,000 expected attendees of Montana Pride “cannot avoid chilled speech or exposure to potential civil or criminal liability.”
