Gazprom Halts Gas Shipments To Europe Via Critical Pipeline
After European nations imported the most gas from Russian sources yesterday in months, scrambling to stock up on supplies as Russian President Vladimir Putin's deadline to either pay for gas in rubles (or be cut off) came and went, Russian gas giant Gazprom has officially halted all deliveries to Europe via the Yamal-Europe pipeline, a critical artery for European energy supplies.
Instead of flowing toward Germany and the EU, gas supplies on Friday and Saturday started flowing in the opposite direction, according to Gascade, the network operator.

So far, the Kazakh authorities have not specified where the suspect is from. According to the counterintelligence, the agent had a sniper rifle, a large sum of money, and some drugs.
"On 25 March 2022, in the city of Nur-Sultan, the counterintelligence of the National Security Committee detained a foreign intelligence agent, a citizen of Republic 'A', who was planning the assassination of the president of Kazakhstan and a number of high-ranking civil servants", the authorities stated.
The National Security Committee also noted that the detained agent was pushing anti-Russian propaganda and inciting anti-Russia sentiment on the internet.
The suspect has admitted the offences, and an investigation into terrorist activities was launched, the authorities noted.
Sri Lanka Blocks Social Media as Protesters Violate Curfew Over Worsening Economic Situation
Around 22 million people in Sri Lanka face a severe shortage of essential commodities, including fuel and medicines. As protesters pressed for the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the government declared a state of emergency on Friday.
Tightening the noose around widespread protests, the Sri Lankan government blocked access to social media on Sunday and imposed strict laws allowing the military to arrest and detain anyone venturing into public places without permission.
The stringent laws have been enforced ahead of planned mass protests by non-political citizens' groups against the Gotabaya Rajapaksa government over the worsening economic crisis in the country.
"As directed by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL), access to Facebook, Messenger, YouTube, WhatsApp, Viber, Twitter, IMO, Instagram, Telegram, Snapchat, and TikTok is restricted with immediate effect until further notice", Dialog Axiata, Sri Lanka's largest telecom service provider said on Sunday.

A massive explosion has devastated a nightclub in Baku, Azerbaijan, causing dozens of injuries, according to local media reports.
The blast rocked the venue in the center of the capital late on Saturday night. According to photos and videos circulating on social media, the explosion was so powerful it completely destroyed the entrance to the club and caused a fire inside.
The health ministry said 24 people had been hospitalized with burns and other injuries as of 4:20am local time, with as many as 35 ambulance crews dispatched to tend to the wounded at the scene of the incident.

“There is growing concern that US house prices are again becoming unhinged from fundamentals,” Fed economists said in a research report posted earlier this week. “Our evidence points to abnormal US housing market behavior for the first time since the boom of the early 2000s,” they added.

China Introduces Robot Arms for Coronavirus Throat Swabs
China’s state-run Global Times on Thursday triumphantly announced the deployment of intimidating robot arms to perform throat swab coronavirus tests “with reasonable sampling accuracy and efficiency.”
The Global Times envisioned these robots replacing humans entirely in the coronavirus testing process, but for now they have been deployed on a test basis in the eastern Shandong province. The developers said the fully tested robot arms will be handed over to local officials for live deployment within a few days.
“There is demand from some local governments and hospitals in Shanghai, East China’s Anhui Province and Jiangsu Province, Central China’s Hunan Province and South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,” the Global Times reported, quoting developers at the Advanced Mechanism and Roboticized Equipment Lab of Tsinghua University.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention admitted there is an adolescent mental health crisis due to the draconian coronavirus protocols it recommended.
According to new survey data released Thursday, more than 44 percent of American teens reported “persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness” while nearly 20 percent seriously considered suicide, and nine percent actually did attempt suicide in 2020.
“These data echo a cry for help,” Debra Houry, a CDC deputy director, told the Washington Post. “The COVID-19 pandemic has created traumatic stressors that have the potential to further erode students’ mental well-being.”
The survey results were collected between January and June 2021 — at the height of coronavirus measures — from 7,705 ninth- through twelfth-graders in a nationally representative sample of private and public schools.

The UK government is pushing ahead with its nationwide digital ID plans, despite half of the responses to its public consultation on digital identity opposing the idea.
On April 6, 2022, new digital identity document verification technology (IDVT) that enables data sharing between public bodies and businesses for the purpose of identity verification will be introduced. It will be made available to UK employers, landlords, and letting agents who can use it to digitally carry out pre-employment criminal record checks, right to work checks, and right to rent checks.
The introduction of this digital IDVT is part of the government’s far-reaching digital ID plans which were announced in March. The government has framed these digital ID plans as a way for UK citizens to “easily and quickly prove their identity using digital methods instead of having to rely on traditional physical documents.”

According to reports, the new variant is 10 percent more transmissible than the BA.2 subvariant, which is already the most contagious.
