Ukrainian drone attacks Russian oil refinery – media
An explosion was reported at a facility in Krasnodar Region
An oil refinery caught fire in Krasnodar Region in southern Russia on Friday morning, emergency officials have said. Baza news outlet reported that the blaze broke out after the facility was struck by a Ukrainian drone.
Baza posted a video of black smoke coming from the Ilsky Oil Refinery. According to the emergency services, the fire was quickly put out, and no one was hurt.
The facility was also attacked by several drones early Thursday morning, during which a blaze also broke out.

The Ukrainian Air Force admitted on Thursday evening that a drone destroyed over Kiev earlier in the day had been one of their own, which they somehow lost control of.
“Since the uncontrolled presence of the UAV in the sky over the capital could lead to undesirable consequences, it was decided to deploy the mobile [missile] teams. This is unfortunate, but that’s technology, these things happen,” said a statement the military released to Ukrainian media.

The Ukrainian proxy war between the West and Russia escalated hours after midnight on Wednesday after a pair of drones believed to have been launched by Ukraine targeted the Kremlin. Commenting on the escalation, former CIA intelligence officer Larry Johnson said it’s a sign that Washington’s Ukraine policy is "in freefall."
The United States is responsible for the drone attack on the Kremlin because “decisions on such attacks are made not in Kiev, but in Washington,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. “Washington should understand clearly that we know this,” the spokesman told reporters Thursday.

Kiev appears frustrated with the White House over the leaks of highly classified documents. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he learned of the leak through the media and has not yet spoken with President Joe Biden regarding the trove of documents.
"I did not receive information from the White House or the Pentagon beforehand," Zelensky said. "We did not have that information. I personally did not. It’s definitely a bad story." The Washington Post reports the highest-level conversation about the leaks to date was between Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba.

The head of the Wagner Group Private Military Company, Evgeny Prigozhin, has announced that his forces will be withdrawing from the key Donbass city of Artyomovsk (known in Ukrainian as Bakhmut) on May 10. He has asked the Russian Army to take over the positions Wagner forces held in the city, while fighters recover.
In a video published on Prigozhin’s press service on Telegram, which was accompanied by an open letter addressed to the Defense Ministry, the president, and the people, the Wagner chief complained that his forces were not receiving enough artillery munitions and were unable to continue to hold the city, which is a regional logistics hub and was the site of months of urban warfare.

THE Royal Navy yesterday scrambled a warship to follow the Russian armada lurking dangerously close to the UK.
The vessels are capable of carrying nuclear weapons and it's thought they are attempting to put on a show off force ahead of King Charles' coronation.
Five Russian warships plus two support vessels popped up today in the waters off the UK and all are equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles.
A UK defence source said told The Sun this morning: "We are aware of a small number of Russian vessels which are exercising around the UK and are monitoring the situation closely.”

Separate overnight drone attacks damaged oil refineries in the southern oblasts of Rostov and Krasnodar. The Krasnodar attack involved four drones and caused a large fire, while the Rostov attack resulted in limited damage. Russia's RT counts multiple recent incidents, detailing: "Earlier in the week, there was a drone incident at another oil facility in the same region, and last week, an oil terminal was hit in the city of Sevastopol in Crimea."
