US may have to suspend weapons shipments to Ukraine
Aid to Kiev may be disrupted if Congress doesn’t pass $40 billion spending package by May 19, Pentagon says
The flow of US weapons to Ukraine might be cut off, at least temporarily, unless Congress quickly approves nearly $40 billion in new spending to help Kiev repel Russia’s offensive in the former Soviet republic, the Pentagon has warned.
“May 19 is the day we really, without additional authorities, we begin to not have the ability to send new stuff in . . .,” Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told reporters on Friday. “By the 19th of May, it’ll start impacting our ability to provide aid uninterrupted.”
Russia to Cut Power Supply to Finland Tomorrow
Russia will halt power supply to Finland on Saturday due to lack of payment.
According to Reuters, Russian utility Inter RAO will suspend the power supply to Finland due to non-payment since May 6.
The Finnish grid company said it can replace Russian electricity supply by importing more electricity from Sweden.
Sweden and Finland are both looking to join NATO.

And as food prices keep rising, the protests across poor nations keep escalating, and on Thursday protests broke out in Iran leading to at least 22 arrests, after the government cut subsidies for food, sending prices through the roof as authorities braced for more unrest in the following weeks, Fox News reports.

CDC Admits It Can't Back Claim That Vaccines Don't Cause Variants
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says it does not have documents backing its claim that COVID-19 vaccines do not cause variants of the virus that causes COVID-19.
The CDC’s website calls it a myth that the vaccines cause variants.
“FACT: COVID-19 vaccines do not create or cause variants of the virus that causes COVID-19. Instead, COVID-19 vaccines can help prevent new variants from emerging,” the website states.
“New variants of a virus happen because the virus that causes COVID-19 constantly changes through a natural ongoing process of mutation (change). As the virus spreads, it has more opportunities to change. High vaccination coverage in a population reduces the spread of the virus and helps prevent new variants from emerging,” it also says.

Victims of the cryptocurrency crash are posting suicidal messages on a Reddit forum dedicated to the cryptocurrency Luna.
This week, Luna token crashed 99 percent as the TerraUSD stablecoin it was tethered to also imploded.
Prior to the crash, the coin was soaring above $115; it’s currently trading at 1 cent.
The downturn caused countless not-so-savvy investors to lose not only their gains, but their entire investments, with some claiming they lost their entire life savings on the speculative project.
Coinbase Customers Sue Over Stablecoin That’s ‘Anything But’
he digital asset trading platform and the issuer of the GYEN token were accused of misleading investors about its stability, leading to millions of dollars in losses, according to a proposed class-action complaint filed Thursday in federal court in northern California.
“Investors placed orders believing the coin’s value was, as advertised, equal to the yen, but the tokens they were purchasing were worth up to seven times more than the yen,” according to the complaint. “Just as suddenly, the GYEN’s value plunged back to the peg -- falling 80 percent in one day.”

Next week, a House subcommittee will hold a congressional hearing on unidentified aerial vehicles with two defense intelligence officials testifying, according to The New York Times.
The hearing is the first open congressional hearing on unidentified flying objects in more than 50 years and comes nearly a year after the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a report on 144 incidents of unidentified aerial phenomena.
While the report said most of the phenomena represented “physical objects,” it did not draw conclusions as to what the objects were and where they came from, saying that inconsistent data hampered the evaluation of the objects.

Bright fireball over the southwestern UK, more than 300 reports received
A very bright fireball was seen over the southwestern United Kingdom at 23:40 UTC on May 11, 2022 (00:40 LT, May 12). The event lasted several seconds and was seen from England, Wales, France, and the Netherlands.
The American Meteor Society (AMS) received more than 300 reports so far, with most of them coming from the UK Meteor Network.1
The ground trajectory computed from the reports shows that the meteor was traveling from SW to NE and ended its visible flight over Wales.
