Russian and Ukrainian chief diplomats arrive in Turkey ahead of talks
Thursday will see the highest-profile negotiations since the start of the military conflict in Ukraine
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba have reportedly landed in Turkey, where officials have offered to mediate talks between the two top diplomats.
Moscow’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Lavrov was set to depart for the Turkish resort city of Antalya on Wednesday, with local media reports later noting that both he and Kuleba had arrived for the peace negotiations, set for Thursday at the Regnum Carya Hotel.

The UN’s health watchdog has warned of worsening health conditions in Ukraine amid ongoing fighting with Russian forces, saying the war could help to spread infectious diseases ranging from Covid to the measles.
“The reality is that the conditions we see in Ukraine are the worst possible ingredients for the amplification and spread of infectious disease,” Dr. Mike Ryan, the director of the World Health Organization’s Health Emergencies Program, said on Wednesday, adding: “It doesn't matter if it’s Covid, doesn’t matter if it’s polio, doesn’t matter if it’s measles, doesn’t matter if it’s cholera.”
Russia's Polyanskiy Dismisses Reports About Attack on Mariupol Hospital as Fake News
UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) - Russia's First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyanskiy has dismissed reports about an attack on a hospital in Mariupol as fake news.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres earlier condemned on his Twitter an "attack on a hospital in Mariupol, Ukraine, where maternity & children's wards are located", as "horrific", noting that civilians are "paying the highest price for a war that has nothing to do with them".
Polyanskiy wrote on Twitter in response to Guterres' statement: "That’s how #Fakenews is born. We warned in our statement back on 7 March (https://russiaun.ru/en/news/070322n) that this hospital has been turned into a military object by radicals. Very disturbing that UN spreads this information without verification."

Russia Will No Longer Participate in Council of Europe - Foreign Ministry
Late last month, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova slammed the Council of Europe's decision to suspend Russia's membership in the organisation as "politicised".
The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced that Moscow will no longer participate in Council of Europe sessions.
"Unfriendly to Russia, EU and NATO states, abusing their absolute majority in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CMCE), continue destroying the Council as well as the common humanitarian and legal expanse in Europe", the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

The United States won’t act on a proposal from Poland to take fighter jets from the ally and transfer them to Ukraine because of concerns Russian officials would view the move as “escalatory,” a U.S. official said March 9.

Maryland Senate Bill 669 Legalizes Infanticide Up To 28 Days After Birth

Senate Bill 669 is also known as the Pregnant Person’s Freedom Act of 2022, but the problems go beyond the use of “person” in place of accurate references to women having babies. Senator William Smith, a Democrat, sponsored the legislation, which will have a hearing on March 15.
“[T]he bill also proposes a revision of the fetal murder/manslaughter statute that would serve to handcuff the investigation of infant deaths unrelated to abortion,” American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) attorney Olivia Summers wrote in her analysis.
