Beijing has expressed doubt about US rapprochement amid Washington’s containment campaign
Chinese officials have essentially torpedoed US President Joe Biden’s claim that relations between Washington and Beijing will thaw “very shortly,” suggesting that the White House lacks credibility when it calls for new talks while at the same time imposing sanctions designed to impede its rival’s economic progress.

Update (1658ET): Stefel's Chief Washington Policy Strategist, Brian Gardner, suggests that if today's meeting between McCarthy and Biden fails to produce a pathway to an agreement, market volatility could increase on fears over missing the X-date.
That said, chances of a deal are uncertain given the current lack of urgency among 'significant blocks of lawmakers on both sides of the aisle.' If no framework emerges by the end of the week, Gardner thinks it will come down to public pressure to dictate how long the standoff lasts.

Why and how doctors kill more people than cancer
Several decades ago, I used mortality figures to prove that doctors were one of the top three causes of death, along with circulatory disease and cancer. My conclusion was widely scorned at the time but now you’d be hard-pressed to find a doctor who didn’t agree that I was right.
Today, I’m afraid that the number of deaths caused by doctors is going up rapidly and doctors have for some time killed more people than cancer. Indeed, I strongly suspect that doctors are now the major cause of death in the Western World – especially if vaccine deaths are included.
