Air traffic at Vnukovo International has been disrupted in recent weeks by Ukrainian UAV attacks on the Russian capital

Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport, located just southwest of the Russian capital, was closed for an hour overnight, TASS news agency reported on Friday morning, citing emergency services.

According to information from the Telegram channel 112, air traffic was halted due to a drone alert. Several flights, scheduled to land at Vnukovo, were diverted to the nearby Domodedovo airport.

Another explosion and fire has rocked Moscow in the overnight hours, as a warehouse in Odintsovo, which lies west of Moscow, suffered reported explosions and was engulfed in flames. 

TASS stated that the size of the fire was 2,000 square meters (21,500 square feet) as of around midnight Moscow time, and a largescale emergency response is in progress.

The Russian Air Force has launched a missile attack on Kiev, Ukrainian defense officials have said, amid reports of several powerful explosions in the capital. The Russian Defense Ministry has yet to comment on the alleged strikes.

On Friday morning at around 9:50am local time, the Ukrainian Air Force issued an air raid alert over the entire country, and a few minutes later, it stated that it had registered “launches of Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from MiG-31K in the direction of Kiev Region.”

Ukrainian authorities have announced a mandatory evacuation in part of Kharkov Region bordering Russia’s Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. The order comes after the Defense Ministry in Moscow said its troops had made headway in the area.

In a written order on Thursday, Andrey Kanashevich, acting head of the Kupiansk military administration, published a list of 37 settlements near the combat zone that were to be evacuated by local residents.

West African governments have taken the next step in trying to force the junta that took power in Niger last month to reverse their coup, ordering that the region’s armies immediately activate standby troops for a possible intervention in the uranium-rich country.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) ordered the force activations on Thursday and issued a statement saying it still prefers a peaceful restoration of democracy in Niger.

(Bloomberg) -- The US Department of Defense entered an agreement with Valisure, an independent lab that’s spotted dangerous chemicals in a variety of widely used pharma and consumer products, to test medications amid surging concerns about generic drug quality and shortages. 

Under a multi-year agreement, Valisure will test dozens of drugs for dangerous chemicals and rate manufacturers’ quality to help the department weed out potentially substandard treatments, according to a statement from the Connecticut-based laboratory. The partnership is a cooperative research and development agreement to exchange information, and the Pentagon will not pay Valisure.
