France supplies long-range missiles to Ukraine

Ukrainian forces have apparently already used SCALP-EGs in strikes on civilian infrastructure in Crimea

President Emmanuel Macron has followed through on his promise to supply Ukraine with the French variant of the Storm Shadow missile, according to footage released by Kiev's Defense Ministry. 

Macron initially announced his decision to provide Ukraine with “long-range missiles” in May, and doubled down on the promise at the NATO summit in Vilnius in July, but until now their delivery was unconfirmed.

Erdogan to make renewed Ukraine peace push – RIA

The Turkish leader will reportedly insist on a ceasefire and call for negotiations between Moscow and Kiev

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan intends to offer himself as a mediator in a bid to end the Ukraine conflict, RIA Novosti reported on Monday, citing a source in the Turkish government. The Turkish leader plans to table the proposal during his upcoming face-to-face meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, the agency added.

According to the news agency, Erdogan plans to reiterate “the thesis that there will be no winners in the war, and no losers in the peace process” when he meets Putin. He also intends to call for a ceasefire and the beginning of negotiations between Moscow and Kiev.

The Russian Defense Ministry earlier said that since the beginning of Kiev’s counteroffensive in early June, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already lost more than 43,000 servicemen.

Ukrainian soldiers learned the truth about Kiev’s counteroffensive from the social network TikTok, Yaroslav Mironyuk, a captured serviceman, told Sputnik.

“The commanders didn't say a peep. Some said it had already begun, others said it hadn’t started yet,” Mironyuk noted.

A large group of Russian and Chinese warships passed near the coast of Alaska last week, with a group of US destroyers scrambling to shadow the naval patrol, according to US defense officials and lawmakers.

In a statement on Saturday, two Republican Senators representing the state of Alaska – Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan – said a total of 11 ships had been detected “transiting US waters in the Aleutians,” citing a classified briefing, and labeling the activities “an incursion.”

Footage on social media shows a major explosion rocked a silo facility at the Port in Derince, Turkey. Reports say the facility is a storage area for wheat. 

Syria reports 4 army personnel killed in Israeli airstrike near Damascus

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), four Syrian soldiers were killed early Monday morning in an Israeli airstrike near Damascus.

A military source reported to SANA: “At around 02:20 a.m. on Monday, the Israeli enemy carried out an aerial act of aggression from the direction of occupied Syrian Golan, targeting some sites in Damascus.”The source claimed the Syrian military also intercepted several Israeli missiles.

The law to amend the composition of the Judge Selection Committee will be the last piece of legislation in the push for judicial reform, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Bloomberg News in an interview released on Sunday.

"Give it several months to try and get another consensus. What is it? It would probably be about the composition of the committee that elects judges… that’s basically what’s left. Because other things, I think, we should not legislate," Netanyahu explained.

One of the biggest bankruptcies in US trucking history occurred Sunday when the nation's third-largest less-than-truckload carrier, Yellow Corp., filed Chapter 11 in a Deleware court. The company has fallen victim to insurmountable debts, including a government loan and tense contract negotiations with the Teamsters Union. It listed assets and liabilities at $1 billion-$10 billion, with more than 100,000 creditors. 

"It is with profound disappointment that Yellow announces that it is closing after nearly 100 years in business," said Yellow CEO Darren Hawkins in a statement Sunday.

Pfizer sued by GSK over claims that the US drug giant stole “key elements” of the UK firm’s RSV injection

British pharmaceutical firm GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has accused its American rival Pfizer of stealing "key elements" of  its vaccine against the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

GSK sued the New York-based Pfizer last Aug. 2 by means of a complaint filed in a federal court in Delaware. It alleged that Pfizer infringes its patent by making, using, selling and importing its Abrysvo shot for RSV in the United States. Arexvy, GSK's version of the RSV shot, was allegedly copied by the American drug firm.

‘Renowned’ NYC Cancer doctor kills her infant and herself

A prominent New York City cancer doctor shot her young child before turning the gun on herself, police said Saturday.

Few details were immediately provided by investigators probing the deaths of Dr. Krystal Cascetta, 40, and her infant. The New York State Police said in a press release that the scene at the family’s home in Westchester County was “consistent with a murder/suicide.” A preliminary investigation had revealed that Cascetta, whom state police characterized as a “renowned” oncologist at Mount Sinai, entered her baby’s room at around 7 a.m. on Saturday. The doctor shot the child before shooting herself, state police said.
