Speaking during his weekly address on Wednesday, the Pope said that “extraordinary”technological progress and “a future full of machines” warrant some optimism, but noted that mankind could yet take another path.

Russian negotiator says Ukraine proposed to become Swedish version of demilitarized state
MOSCOW, March 16. /TASS/. Kiev is proposing that Ukraine become a Swedish or Austrian version of a demilitarized state that has its own armed forces, said Kremlin Aide Vladimir Medinsky, who leads Russia’s delegation at the talks.
"The preservation and development of Ukraine’s neutral status, a demilitarization of Ukraine, a whole range of issues related to the size of the Ukrainian armed forces are being discussed," he said. "Ukraine is proposing the Austrian, Swedish versions of a neutral demilitarized state, which is a state that has an army and a navy."
"All these issues are being discussed at the level of the leadership of the Russian and Ukrainian defense ministries," Medinsky went on to say.

A pair of U.S. Patriot missile defense systems arrived in Poland on Tuesday and were installed at an airport located just 50 miles from its border with Ukraine, where Russian military forces are invading.
The Daily Mail reported the missile defense systems were installed at the Rzeszow-Jasionka International Airport in Rzeszów, Poland. The city is located 50 miles from Poland’s southeast border and about 100 miles from the southwest Ukrainian city of Lviv.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has played a central role in advancing negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, according to a Wednesday report.
Bennett has been the “primary international mediator” during the talks, the Financial Times reported, citing three people familiar with the matter.
The British news outlet reported details of a 15-point proposal that would have Ukraine give up its aspiration to join the US-led NATO military alliance in exchange for a ceasefire, Russian withdrawal and security promises.
Kyiv and Moscow have made significant progress toward agreeing on the tentative deal, which would also have Ukraine put limits on its military and remain neutral by not making alliances or hosting foreign forces on its soil. Negotiators from the two sides discussed the full deal for the first time on Monday, the report said.

Russia and the Biden administration confirmed on Tuesday that the new nuclear agreement includes carveouts that will waive sanctions on both countries so that Russia can make good on this contract.

Iran has more than 3,000 ballistic missiles, many of which can reach the State of Israel, commander of the United States Central Command Gen. Kenneth McKenzie said on Tuesday.
McKenzie, who is retiring from the military soon, was in Israel last week and held talks with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Defense Minister Benny Gantz and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kohavi.
“At a military level my concern is first of all that they do not have a nuclear weapon but I am also very concerned about the remarkable growth and efficiency of their ballistic missile program,” McKenzie told the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Bank of Canada and Massachusetts Institute of Technology announce joint Central Bank Digital Currency collaboration
The Bank of Canada and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) today announced an agreement to collaborate on a twelve-month research project on Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). The Bank will work with the MIT Media Lab’s Digital Currency Initiative team to explore how advanced technologies could affect the potential design of a CBDC, building on the DCI’s ongoing research into CBDC. This exploration will help inform the Bank of Canada’s research effort into CBDC.
The project forms part of the Bank’s wider research and development agenda on digital currencies and fintech. It will focus on exploring and experimenting with potential technology approaches to determine how a CBDC could work. No decision has been made on whether to introduce a CBDC in Canada.
The Bank of Canada will provide an update on the findings and outcomes at the end of the project period.
10 Million Pandemic Deaths due to Ineffective and Unnecessary Public Health Actions
The subject of excess deaths during the pandemic, meaning deaths more than prior years, has received much attention. Now comes an analysis by medical establishment researchers, funded by Bill Gates and published in the premier establishment medical journal – The Lancet. An establishment publication commented positively on the article.
Before explaining what was intentionally omitted, here are the key findings.
The study covered the initial two years of the COVID pandemic, 2020 and 2021. It estimated excess mortality from the COVID-19 pandemic in 191 countries and territories, and 252 subnational units for selected countries. Global deaths directly attributed to COVID-19 reached 5.9 million, yet estimates put excess deaths at a staggering 18.2 million during this period. In other words, about 12 million people probably died from causes other than COVID infection. Something that the public health establishment should be held accountable for.
At the country level, the highest numbers of cumulative excess deaths due to the pandemic were estimated in India 4·07 million, the USA 1·13 million, Russia 1·07 million, Mexico 798 000, Brazil 792 000, Indonesia 736 000, and Pakistan 664 000. Note that the figure for the USA was about 300,000 greater than the CDC official number of deaths related to COVID infection through 2021.
Israel records new covid variant
Israel’s ministry of health said Wednesday it had recorded two cases of new Covid variant, but which officials said they were not unduly worried about.
The strain, combining two sub-variants of the Omicron version of the Covid-19 virus — dubbed BA.1 and BA.2 — was recorded during PCR tests on two passengers arriving at Israel’s Ben Gurion airport.
“This variant is still unknown around the world,” the ministry statement read.
“The two cases of the combined strain, which have been discovered so far, suffered from mild symptoms of fever, headaches and muscle dystrophy, and do not require a special medical response,” it added.
Israel’s pandemic response chief, Salman Zarka, played down the risks.

Powerful quake off north Japan kills 4, more than 90 injured
TOKYO (AP) — A powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Fukushima in northern Japan on Wednesday night, smashing furniture, knocking out power and killing four people. A small tsunami reached shore, but the low-risk advisory was lifted by Thursday morning.
The region is part of northern Japan that was devastated by a deadly 9.0 quake and tsunami 11 years ago that caused nuclear reactor meltdowns, spewing massive radiation that still makes some parts uninhabitable.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida told a parliamentary session Thursday morning that four people died during the quake and the cause of their deaths are being investigated, while 97 others were injured. A man in his 60s in Soma city died after falling from the second floor of his house while trying to evacuate, and a man in his 70s panicked and suffered a heart attack, Kyodo News reported earlier.

In a long series of cyberattacks, anonymous claims to have hacked the site of the Russian state corporation for nuclear energy Rosatom.
Hackers from the anonymous group hacked the site of the Russian state corporation for nuclear energy Rosatom on Tuesday. The corp is allegedly running Zaporizhzhya, a Ukrainian nuclear power plant seized by Russia.
Anonymous changed the interface on the site and made it otherwise inaccessible. They also claimed to have gained access to gigabytes of data, which they plan to leak to the public.

LuSys Laboratories, Inc is recalling COVID-19 antigen (nasal/saliva) and COVID-19 IgG/IgM antibody tests because they do not have an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), 510(k) premarket notification, or premarket approval (PMA) and therefore cannot be marketed and distributed in the U.S. The risks include potential false negative, false positive, and misinterpretation of results from these tests.
The FDA has identified this as a Class I recall, the most serious type of recall. Use of these devices may cause serious injuries or death.
Hospitals No Longer Required to Report COVID Deaths, HHS Says
Without data, the foundation of scientific analysis, researchers can’t draw conclusions, which leaves public health experts unable to accurately make recommendations.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has stopped mandatory hospital reporting of COVID-19 deaths and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is hiding data about the effectiveness of the booster shots in people aged 18 to 64, or those least likely to benefit from the shot.
The New York Post notes the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) overruled an expert advisory committee and the CDC overruled their own experts to promote the booster to all age groups. Scientists must use Israeli data, which show little to no difference in those boosted or not boosted until people are over age 65.
The CDC justifies not releasing the data saying it was “not ready for prime time,” as it would be misinterpreted and is based on 10% of the population, or the same sample size that has been used for influenza statistics for years.
Data from independent researchers and insurance companies recording all-cause death rates show the number who have died in 2021 after the release of the vaccine far exceeds the all-cause death rate in 2020 during the height of the infection.
It is easy to understand why the HHS and CDC want to hide this data from scrutiny as it’s more difficult to ignore with each passing day that the infection didn’t kill the number of people health experts claimed and that the vaccine is killing far more than the virus is.
30 Per Cent of ‘Ukrainian Refugees’ Are Actually From Other Countries

Around a third of Ukrainian refugees arriving in France are actually economic migrants from other areas of the world, mostly North Africa and the Middle East, according to an investigation by newspaper Le Figaro.
Over 5,000 refugees have already arrived in France from Ukraine, with some being transported by bus from Berlin and others arriving by rail and air.
“However, many of those arriving through official channels and being identified by the authorities are non-Ukrainian, with Le Figaro reporting that as many as 30 percent are migrants of other nationalities,” reports ReMix News.
“The newspaper reveals that 7.5 percent are of Algerian nationality, while 3.5 percent of arrivals are from the Ivory Coast and Morocco respectively.”
