A large explosion has occurred in the Russian city of Taganrog, with several civilians reported injured
A major explosion occurred on Friday in Taganrog, a southwest Russian port on the Sea of Azov, injuring at least twelve people, emergency services have told the TASS news agency.
The blast, in the city center, sent a large column of dust into the air, footage circulating online shows.

An explosion on Friday in the southwest Russian port city of Taganrog was caused by a missile strike, the governor of Rostov Region has said. The blast rocked the city center, damaging multiple buildings and vehicles.
Vasily Golubev said that at least 15 people received mild injuries from blast fragments, and are now being treated by medics.

VOLNOVAKHA DISTRICT, DPR (Sputnik) — A group of Ukrainian infantry troops were taken out their own mines while attempting an attack in the direction of Ugledar in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), a Russian soldier with the call sign "Buka" from the 2nd Dmitry Donskoy Rifle Battalion told Sputnik.
"Just a few days ago, there was another attempt by the Ukrainian forces to launch an offensive in the direction of Ugledar. A group of infantry accompanied by three units of heavy equipment tried to advance, but the attempt was unsuccessful as they couldn't reach our positions; instead, they triggered their own mines."
American tanks to reach Ukraine in September – Politico

The US hopes to deliver the first Abrams heavy tanks to Ukraine sometime in September so they could join the ongoing offensive, Politico reported on Thursday. The Pentagon had previously estimated their deployment “sometime in the fall.”
The first “handful” of tanks will be sent to Germany in August, where they will undergo “final refurbishments” before getting shipped to Ukraine the following month, the outlet said, citing six unnamed officials familiar with the discussions.

The World Bank has transferred $1.5 billion to Kiev via the Advancing Needed Credit Enhancement for Ukraine Trust Fund, the Ukrainian Finance Ministry announced on Thursday.
“The funds raised will be directed towards economic recovery and strengthening social security for the population,” Finance Minister Sergey Marchenko was quoted as saying.

ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) - Africa is becoming a new center of power, and this has become an objective reality, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.
"I would like to note right before our eyes the African continent is becoming a new center of power, its political and economic role is growing exponentially. And everyone will have to reckon with this objective reality," Putin said at the Russia-Africa summit.
The Russian president added that ideas of freedom, integrity and sovereignty shared by African leaders are now important during "establishment of multipolar world order."

US forces in Niger are restricting their movement and assessing the situation following a military coup that overthrew President Mohamed Bazoum, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two unnamed Pentagon officials.
A group of soldiers appeared on TV Wednesday saying that they ousted Bazoum, who was democratically elected in 2021. "The defense and security forces … have decided to put an end to the regime you are familiar with," said Maj. Col. Amadou Abdramane, spokesman for the group that took power, which calls itself the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland.

In a clear sign of the imminent rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem, a fox was spotted near the Zion Gate in the Old City on the evening of Tisha B’Av, the day commemorating the destruction of the two Temples.
The fox was photographed by Barak Blumenthal as he toured the city on the auspicious day.
While not miraculous, foxes generally avoid cities and populated areas. Indeed, the sighting comes when Jerusalem was full of people coming to commemorate the day. In 2019, several foxes were spotted on the Temple Mount during the nine days of austerity leading up to the Ninth of Av.
