Court date set for lawsuit against Trudeau gov’t vaccine travel mandate

The main plaintiff in the case is the last living drafter of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the exact document the Trudeau government is alleged to have violated.

CALGARY, Alberta (LifeSiteNews) — The Trudeau government will have to defend its mandate barring the unvaccinated from plane, train, and sea travel in federal court this fall.

“The Federal Court has issued an Order that an action brought by the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, to strike down the federal government’s mandatory Covid-19 vaccine requirements for air travelers (the ‘Travel Ban’) will be heard on September 19, 2022,” announced the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, the legal group representing plaintiff Brian A. Peckford, who is the former premier of Newfoundland and the last living architect of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed on its social media networks on Tuesday evening that its servicemen holed up at the Azovstal steelworks in Mariupol have been ordered to surrender. 

“The garrison ‘Mariupol’ has completed the assigned combat mission. The highest military command issued an order to the commanders of the units located at Azovstal to save the lives of the personnel,” the Ukrainian military statement explained. According to Kiev, while holding positions at Azovstal, its soldiers prevented Russian troops from operating in other theaters.

NATO starts drills near Russian border

Thousands of troops from 14 nations, including the US, Sweden, Finland and Ukraine, are taking part in huge exercises in Estonia

Large-scale NATO military drills started in Estonia on Monday. The exercise dubbed ‘Hedgehog 2022’ is one of the largest in the Baltic nation’s history, according to the military bloc. The drills will involve some 15,000 troops from 14 nations, including both military bloc members and their partners.

Soldiers from Finland, Sweden, Georgia and Ukraine are among those that will take part in the exercise, Finnish public broadcaster Yle reported. The drills will include all branches of the armed forces and will involve air, sea and land exercises, as well as cyber warfare training, according to the broadcaster.

Sweden has said it will join Finland in bidding for membership of NATO, after Russia's invasion of Ukraine prompted an 'historic' shift away from decades of neutrality.

Magdalena Andersson, the Swedish prime minister, announced the move on Monday - just a day after Finnish counterpart Sanna Marin tabled her own bid. 

Andersson said the move was being made in conjunction with Helsinki and marks 'a historic change in our country's security policy' which has relied on a pledge of neutrality to deter attacks since the Napoleonic era.
