Ukraine preparing for ‘decisive’ battle against Russia

Ukraine is gearing up for a major battle against Russia in the country’s southeast, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Saturday during a joint press conference with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer in Kiev. At the same time, however, Ukraine is looking for “certain diplomatic ways” to end the ongoing conflict, Zelensky added.
“We see preparations for an important – and some say decisive – battle,” he claimed.
“In the east, and not only in the east, but also in the south, there is an accumulation of troops. {There is} a large number of troops, equipment, armed people who are going to occupy another part of our territories. It will be a difficult battle. We believe in our struggle, we believe in our victory,” Zelensky said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed that an EU member state’s leader called into question Kiev’s version of events surrounding the Bucha killings, asking for proof that the atrocities were not staged.
Speaking to German newspaper Bild on Friday, Zelensky described how a leading EU politician asked him for evidence proving that the Bucha massacre had not been staged. The remark came after the Bild journalist asked what the worst thing he had heard in recent days was. When the interviewer probed further, asking whether it was the head of state of an EU nation, Zelensky replied in the affirmative, though he refused to name the official.
Imran Khan Ousted as Prime Minister of Pakistan
The now former PM said earlier that foreign powers were behind the motion to depose him, apparently due to the foreign policy they do not “approve of”, such as Pakistan's ties with Russia and China and its stance in the UN.
Imran Khan has been ousted as Pakistani prime minister through a no-confidence vote, local media reported on Saturday.
Shortly before the vote, the speaker of the National Assembly (lower house of Pakistan’s parliament), Asad Qaiser, resigned, explaining that “he cannot participate in a foreign conspiracy to remove Khan.”
Last Sunday, the vice speaker of Pakistan’s parliament rejected a vote of no confidence in Khan, calling it unconstitutional. Shortly thereafter, the president, at the suggestion of then-PM Khan, dissolved the parliament. The decision to cancel the no-confidence vote and dissolve parliament caused discontent among opposition parties, who challenged the decision in court.

Oklahoma House Approves Near-Total Abortion Ban
The Oklahoma House of Representatives, currently controlled by the Republicans, approved on Tuesday a bill banning abortion in the state, even in cases of rape or incest.
The law was approved last year by the State Senate and now the bill will be sent to Governor Kevin Stitt, who pledged to sign any law supported by state legislators.
The legislation allows abortions only in the case of a medical emergency. If signed into law, it would penalize abortion providers up to $100,000 in fines or up to 10 years imprisonment, or both, according to the draft bill.

The month of March 2022 in the United States had the most March tornadoes on record – 218, beating the previous record of 192 recorded in 2017.
Additionally, this is the 4th consecutive year with at least 1 violent (EF4+) tornado in the month of March. The record longest streak on record was from 1963 to 1967 with 5 consecutive years.
There were 5 days with 3 or more strong (EF2+) tornadoes last month: March 5, March 21, March 22, March 30, and March 31.
The month also had 41 tornado watches issued which ties 2008, 2002, and 1976 as the 8th most March tornado watches on record.

A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.2 hit Vanuatu at 20:52 UTC on April 9, 2022. The agency is reporting a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). EMSC is reporting the same magnitude and depth.
The epicenter was located about 65 km (45 miles) WSW of Norsup (population 2 998) and 95 km (59 miles) SSW of Luganville (population 13 397), Vanuatu.
There are about 60 000 people living within 100 km (62 miles).
4 000 people are estimated to have felt moderate shaking and 111 000 light.
My wife won't read articles with accurate news about Ukraine. Tonight she was watching some ridiculous CBS "news" show blaming the Russian forces for Bucha atrocities. The retarded announcer pronounced Kiev as "keev". I said "Doesn't this asshole know how to pronounce Kiev?" My wife gave me a look like she wanted to throw something at me.
It's saddening to me to see an otherwise intelligent woman, to whom I've been married 30 years, willingly allow herself to be deluded by the ignorant assholes on TV. It seems that there's no use in trying to get her to see what lies she accepts as truth from the news media.
