Ukraine targeted the Engels airfield in Russia’s Saratov Region with a drone early on Monday, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The UAV, traveling at a low altitude, was shot down by the base’s air defenses, but three servicemen suffered fatal wounds from the falling debris, the ministry said. The men who died were technical staff, and none of the aircraft stationed at the airfield were damaged in the incident, the statement said.

Several Ukrainian saboteurs were intercepted on Sunday while trying to infiltrate Russia, according to the FSB security service. Four members of the group were killed in a firefight, the agency said.
The FSB said the Ukrainians were armed with submachine guns produced by the German firm SIG Sauer, and had “communication and navigation equipment and means for conducting acts of sabotage and terrorism.” The group had four improvised explosive devices with a combined yield equivalent to 40 kg of TNT, the statement added.

"We are ready to negotiate with everyone involved about acceptable solutions, but that is up to them – we are not the ones refusing to negotiate, they are," Putin said.

A South Korean KA-1 light aircraft crashed on Monday as it scrambled to intercept North Korean drones that had intruded into South Korean airspace, Seoul’s military said, as cited by Yonhap news agency. Both pilots reportedly emerged unscathed.
According to an official cited by Yonhap, the military detected multiple “unidentified objects,” suspected to be unmanned aerial vehicles, in the Gyeonggi-do province bordering on North Korea.

New Delhi plans to station some 120 missiles along the Indian border, ANI news agency reports
India intends to field more than a hundred ballistic missiles along its border with China and Pakistan, according to local news agency ANI. The report follows New Delhi’s claims of clashes between Indian and Chinese troops in a contested area of the Himalayas earlier this month.
“A high-level meeting of the Defense Ministry cleared the acquisition of around 120 missiles for the Armed Forces and their deployment along the borders,” a senior defense source told the outlet.

Disruptions to Christmas Day travel continued into the early morning of Dec. 26, with Boxing Day flight cancellations topping 1,400 as much of the United States reels from the impact of a powerful winter storm.
By 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 26 there were 1,418 flight cancellations within, into, or out of the United States, and 736 delays, according to FlightAware data.
Christmas Day, typically a light day for travel, saw a total of 3,182 canceled flights within, into, or out of the United States, while delays totaled a whopping 6,924.
At least 38 people have been killed, and hundreds of thousands have been left without power this Christmas as Storm Elliott—termed a “once in a generation” storm by some forecasters—swept through much of the United States and parts of Canada, bringing with it freezing temperatures, flash floods, and blizzards.
Three Power Substations Attacked In Washington State On Christmas Day
Increased sabotage incidents on the US power grid are very concerning. On Christmas Day, three substation facilities were vandalized in Pierce County, Washington, plunging thousands of customers into total darkness, according to ABC News.
Two of the power substations were operated by Tacoma Public Utilities and one by Puget Sound Energy. The Pierce County Sheriff's Department said all three were attacked, but there are no "motives or if this was a coordinated attack on the power systems."

McDonald’s opened its first automated restaurant, with machines handling everything from taking orders to delivering the food – and dividing opinions everywhere.
